SIMPLY SENSUOUS

Cam and I took off and went to Lincoln, Nebraska for a couple of days to see some dear, dear friends of ours there. I know what you're thinking: Lincoln, Nebraska? We lived there for two years when my husband's company bought a 69-year-old laboratory there, and there are four couples that are still so dear to us. (Funny story: When we first moved to the Philadelphia area, Cam, who hates pretentiousness and loves to be funny, would introduce us as the "Hicks from Nebraska"). Very funny.

One such couple started the most incredible little restaurant five years ago. This is a place that's such a jewel to Lincoln but would equally fit on the New York foodies radar screen. "Bread and Cup" is a chic little place with outdoor seating in the heart of the old city of Lincoln. Though I had eaten there a couple of years ago when we had last visited, I was somehow almost emotional about the art and the craft of our dear friend, Kevin, and his team of food experts. It's simple food. Simply chic, that is. Farm fresh everything, (I saw the farmer delivering her eggs and rabbits), freshly made breads (the best cinnamon buns!) and individual pavlovas that were simply divine with mulberries atop...because they're in season). We ate there four times over the three day stay!

As a fashion blogger, you might wonder why I bring this up. Because it reminds me, yet again:

Don't you just love the details of beauty? Are you as aware of them as I am?   Be it sound (music, birds, rushing or rippling water); smell (coffee, perfume, that mysterious after rain scent); sight (gorgeous color, sleek architecture, gardens); touch (soft towels, babies feet, husband's hand); and taste (delicious herbs, fresh fruit, tic tacs). I don't care what sense is being awakened...I LOVE beauty in all its "make me tingle all over" forms!

We are sensuous beings, right? (Definition of sensuous: Relating to or affecting the senses rather than the intellect. Readily affected by the senses.)

That's why I love fashion. It takes beauty - a woman  - and layers on beauty, and layers it again and pulls all kinds of layers out of her as well. You know what I mean? Do you see all the ways that you can be beautiful? Do you see?

You were created to be lovely.  Be lovely.
