I’m certain I was the most wide-eyed gal in NYC when I stepped out of the car in front of The Plaza on Monday night. It was there that the Fashion Institute of Technology was holding its annual gala, this year honoring QVC as Retailer of the Year and Dennis Basso as designer of the year. And I was thrilled to be among the invited! Wearing a Basso gown alone makes me feel like a princess…but to wear his gown and be among his peers? Pinch me!
I quickly joined my QVC sisters Albany and Leah and began a whirlwind of an evening…I documented as much magic as I could on our QVC Snapchat (see some of the snaps below) as we walked the red carpet (my eyes still see flashes), interviewed with reporters, and raised toasts with the likes of Peter Thomas Roth, Mari Lyn Meier, Angel Smedley, Laura Gellar and many more friends. And of course we gave our congratulations and bear hugs to Dennis himself!
Dinner in the packed ballroom was the highlight of the evening, with speeches by QVC CEO Mike George, G.I.L.I’s Jill Martin and of course Dennis Basso! My favorite quote of Dennis’:
“Every morning I wake up to go to a party. It’s a different party every day, but it’s always a party! And that’s a wonderful life!”
Exactly how we all should feel, Dennis!! Bravo!
On the ride home I replayed the evening over and over. What a dream come true to be here at all…but in that room full of support, love and celebration all for the benefit of young students working hard to make their own fashionable dreams come true? Icing on the cake.. at yet another one of life’s daily parties
