PM Style Blog 7-29-2016 - Feeling Nostalgic!

Feeling nostalgic, mainly because today is “Throwback Thursday” and my peeps (aka my high school besties) have been texting and swapping old photos of all of us from days gone by. Got me to reminiscing…

Oh the buck teeth I had…the braces and head gear I wore. I used to mow the lawn for $20 on the weekend, and when I was 11 we moved to Mexico for my Dad’s job. I remember having a crush on my science teacher Mr Latham, and getting terribly bullied that first year in the American school.

My first love was in Mexico though…his name, Andre Araiz. Oh how my heart swooned for this kid. His dad was a Mexican film and commercial producer.

I used to eat sopa de tortilla, agua de pina, and tacos de pollo after school. There were lollipops made out of chili paste, corn on the cob with mayo and shredded cheese. Mexico was where my big hair was born. Moving back to Michigan 4yrs later, was where it continued….

Summers in Grosse Pointe where I finished high school, were spent babysitting, and selling ties at a local men’s store. I remember Mrs. Zawacki who taught me about mitochondria in Biology class, and my prom date, Nick Johnston. Oh how I loved that dress…

A Ouija board once told me I would marry a man named Steve. So naturally when I met this “Steve” a few grades above me, I was convinced we were soul mates.

My nickname in HS was “Killer”.  I didn’t so much kill it on those SAT’s though. Great student, rubbish test taker. Dreams of Princeton were quickly dashed. Penn State was the place. Fun fact: I dated the Nittany Lion mascot. Another fun fact: I almost went to law school instead or getting into TV.

And what got me to remembering all this today? My best friends from high school who are spread out all over the country and who are my heart and soul. (And yes, they have all bought things from QVC. Lets see, from left to right: Jenny with the hat loves Amazing Grace and Tarte mascara; Christine adores Kate Somerville Exfolikate and I just sent her Supergoop sunscreen; Kathy once bought a Dyson from me; and Laurie buys a new Vitamix just about every time we have one as a TSV. )
