New York, New York!!

by on ‎02-02-2017 03:40 PM

Joe and I made a quick 'couple day' dash up to NYC last week and in case you missed some of the highlights on my Instagram page, I thought I would share them in this week's PMStyle blog. So, here goes, the 'Top Ten' coolest things about our jaunt into the Big Apple:

#10: Eating Breakfast with Steve Martin

Around the corner from our hotel was a humble upper east side diner called 3 Guys. Ok let's qualify humble, bc the Upper East side is way swanky so I purely mean, this was not some Michelin Star joint. Joe and I order omelettes, coffee, we sit at the counter. And well you don't say, why yes, that IS Steve Martin seated right behind us in a booth. Green jacket. 10 o clock. Cmon, for real?!? Yes FOR REAL. this selfie which hopefully went unnoticed, came out pretty good.

#9 CNN hailed our cab

So we pull up to the corner of our hotel, it's raining and we have just arrived from the train station. We stop, pay, and get out, and who should be waiting curbside, in the rain, eager to score our vacating cab - Christiane Amanpour, that famous CNN international correspondent. She was super nice...and she was wearing what looked like cashmere sweatpants. Just saying.

#8 Couples massage

My hubbo is very comfortable in his manhood, meaning he is perfectly happy to don a robe and slippers for a spa service. One more reason to love him.  Ours began w an Italian honey tasting (bc honey is good for your health) and ended with a sigh

#7  Going to the theater

We saw The Front Page featuring Nathan Lane, John Goodwin, and a host of other well known actors. It was funny. It was long. Did you know in some theaters, for $35, you can buy "standing room only" seats? You actually have a seat, er standing spot, for the whole show. I never knew. I wore heels. We sat.

#6 The train

I love a train. I grew up riding them in Europe so I find something soulful about watching the world zip by as you ride to your destination.

#5 Laura Geller Doing my laundry

I forgot to take a photo of us, bc I was obviously too busy spilling wine. Laura has neon lips that hang in her living room and a view that is breathtaking. We sat for hours over vino, which I clumsily spilled all over myself so at one point she did my laundry while I sat in an oversized tee shirt she loaned me. Her son Daniel is a love and he spent the night zipping around the apartment on his hover board. #coolkid

#4 The city skyline

Speaking of great views, when the sun sets at just the right time and angle, and you are standing on just the right corner, you get a view that could be a painting...

#3 Magnolia Bakery

We had to buy some treats to bring home to my Mom & Dad and famous NYC cupcakes fit the bill. It took every bit of willpower for me not to dig into these.

#2 The butter dish

This video requires little setup, it illustrates one of the simple pleasures, er luxuries, of hotel life. Room service. Breakfast. And a butter dish that is stinkin adorable and fit for a princess...

#1 visiting Jill Martin behind the scenes at the Today Show

this was the number one treat of treats. I wanted to see my girl GILI Jill in action. And what a morning to visit the studio. In a matter of an hour, we ran into Glenn Close, Laurence Fishburne, Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee, Natalie Morales, Al & Matt, Katie Couric, and Tamron Hall. Tx girl!!! So much fun.
