My Trip to the Fancy Food Show

I recently had the chance to attend the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. It was my first time visiting this beautiful city and as we took off, I was able to get this beautiful picture.

Even though it was dark when we landed in San Francisco, I could feel the energy. On the cab ride, I could see how entirely different the city was laid out, with its vertical layers of trees and buildings.

The food show here was amazing! It happens once a year in January, and food vendors from all over the country (and in some sections from all over the world!) display their wares for buyers in many different retail categories. Needless to say, there are samples galore! From snacks and savories to cheese and chocolate, if you can't find it at the Fancy Food Show, it doesn't exist!  :-)

I experienced my first taste of camel milk, which was very much like cow’s milk, and perfect for people who can't have lactose (and aren't fond of the tang of goat's milk).

I also had my first taste of bug chips. Yes, you heard it, bug chips.

They tasted just like regular corn chips, but have a much higher concentration of protein, because of their special ingredient. Don't worry, our buyers passed on that idea, but it was too intriguing for me to pass up!

I walked around with our QVC food team, Christina and Rebecca, and Michelle, who is crucial in the training of our newest on-air guests. We visited with some friends and brands that have been on the air for years like the team from Hampton Popcorn.sharonfancyfoodhampton.jpg

And we also made new connections with people that had some deliciously great ideas. A few of my favorites were genuine Wagyu beef from New Mexico, fruit bars with only two ingredients (soft and moist), individual fruit pies that are portable (wrapped entirely in pastry!), and a new kind of toffee.

After the show, we were able to relax and have a delicious dinner with our team and some of our old friends, like Jimmy Stovall.

Our food team will be working tirelessly to bring lots of new ideas to the Q this year. All I can say is, I can't wait for the next Fancy Food Show on the east coast in July!

All my best,

Sharon
