My First Pennsylvania Conference for Women - but Definitely NOT my last!

by on ‎10-14-2016 07:37 PM

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the PA Conference for Women as a QVC ambassador on the hunt for new products! It was a great day, and I saw lots of women entrepreneurs pitching their products. Check out what you might see coming up on QVC!

The day started bright and early. I arrived at the PA Convention Center around 6:45 a.m. (attendees started streaming through the doors at 7:30 a.m.!!!!).

Once inside, I had to check out our QVC/zulily booth. It looks great right?

At 7:30 a.m. my colleagues and I took our seats on the panel, and prepared to be delighted, excited, and wowed by the entrepreneurs presenting their products. The panel was (l-r) me, Lori Twomey (zulily Chief Merchant), Heather McNicholl (QVC Director of Vendor Education), Christine Dunn (QVC Household and  Home Improvement buyer), and Ariana Sweet (Beauty buyer: color cosmetics and nailcare).

Here are some of my favorite items from the day:

Weights for your wrists called "Tone-y Bands."

SecurityGuard.jpg

An arm band for running or walking that glows & flashes and holds a slip of paper inside with your name and personal information necessary in case of emergency.  (One of our security gentlemen loved this product so much, he bought one right from the presenter!).

A backpack that offers seating and a blanket, stadium seats, and so much more. This product was like a clown car- it did like eight different things, and only weighed about eight pounds!

The passion and commitment from each of the entrepreneurs was so inspiring!

My friend and QVC host colleague Courtney Cason joined us in the afternoon.

As did our Stylist extraordinaire, Angelo.  He was there to give styling advice to all who came to our QVC/zulily booth. Here we are with Lori Twomey.

I joined thousands of women at the Conference Luncheon to hear great speakers like:

Abby Wambach, 2015 Women's World Cup Champion U.S., who encouraged women to not only sit at tables of "power" (in any instance), but to speak up, engage, and move the conversation about womens rights forward.

Mindy Kaling, an actor, writer, producer and director shared her experiences being an up and coming writer to the one who called the shots on a hit television show.

Later in the afternoon, I visited the zulily booth where photographers were creating professional headshots for attendees. Great idea for a professional conference right??   Here I am with Lori Twomey, and with some of my colleagues from the panel!

I love supporting women and our entrepreneurial spirit. The genius behind many of the products is simply that they fill a need that we all have. I can't wait to present a few of these on QVC!

Best,

Rachel

P.S. If you have a product that you think would be perfect for QVC or zulily, don’t hesitate to take a look at our SPROUTS program…we’re ALWAYS looking for great products!
