Mom's 80th Birthday Wish

So for my mom’s 80th birthday, what she wanted more than anything in the world was to gather the family together at a cabin by a lake. You only turn 80 once right? So that’s exactly what we did!

We all traveled to the California Mountains for five glorious days. No internet, no phone, just family time.

The lake was the place to be! We spent hours in the water.

We took walks in the forest.

Here is my mom and dad.

And me and my mom.

We ate whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. Notice that my niece is eating eggs and my nephew is eating ice cream…lol

We enjoyed girls’ time.

And art time. My niece drew my portrait.

There was a pool table in the house, so we played pool at all hours, and had mad competitions!

We danced in the kitchen. This is my sister-in-law and my nephew.

And we played games late into the night, Taboo and Clue were the favorites.

But amidst all of the frolicking and birthday revelry, we had one set-in-stone appointment each day. For an hour each afternoon we videotaped my mom sharing her life story. She is an infinitely amazing woman, and we wanted to take the time, here and now, to learn everything from the beginning!

And, of course, we had an 80th birthday celebration dinner.

We three “kids” are honored to have such an amazing mother, and eternally grateful that she continues to grace our lives.
