May Fitness Motivation

Ok. It’s here. No more waiting. No more procrastinating. Summer is less than 30 days away, and if you are looking to hit the sand sans shirt and shorts, now is the time to act! The good news is that there is still time to get in shape and feel good about your weight! Here are some tips for helping you get there, and some easy solutions to help track your goals along the way.

1. Get a buddy!

If you follow me on Facebook you know that I am always out and about with my friends hiking and walking in the borough. Having a buddy not only keeps you accountable for your fitness goals, but it also helps to make fitness more enjoyable! Time flies when you’re having fun, and you’ll be surprised at how much ground you’ll cover (pun intended) when you’re walking, laughing, and catching up on gossip!

2. Keep your body limber!

When you go from being inactive to active, you might feel some aches and pains in the beginning. A natural way to relieve muscle tension is to STRETCH on a regular basis – and I’m not just talking about touching your toes. I use my Aeropilates rebounder every day to help stretch out my lower back, legs and hamstrings. It only alleviates muscle tightness, but actually makes me feel like I’m standing taller!

3. Track your steps!

In fitness, if knowing where you stand is important, then knowing how many steps you’ve taken is even MORE important!! I LOVE my new FitBit Blaze

It’s not only an awesome way to track my daily steps, heart rate, stairs climbed, and my sleep patterns; but it also notifies me of incoming texts and phone calls. So even if my phone isn’t right next to me, I can still be notified of what’s going on in my life. Not to mention……it looks SOOOOO cool!!! (Excellent Father’s day gift…hint hint).

Here is a view of the dashboard app on my iPhone. I love how easy it is to read and navigate.

4. Eat Smarter!

Maybe you’re going to start each morning with a smoothie or commit to portioning out your meals, or cut out sweets and stick with the basics of fruits, veggies and lean meats. Whatever you do, choose to make at least 1 change for the better in your diet and STICK TO IT! The combination of exercise and balanced diet always pays off in a synergistic way!

So what are you going to try out? Let me know below!!! Also, go to my Facebook page and let me know your progress. I’d love to hear about your journey!! And if you would like to see more of the Fitbits we over, click here.
