Mary Beth's Menu - Do You Have A Sweet Tooth?

by on ‎10-21-2013 09:33 AM

I love a simple cookie recipe, one that does not require a lot of fancy ingredients, yet satisfies the sweet tooth. This one is just that plus, all the things needed are usually in my cupboard. Enjoy!

Walnut Butter Balls

  • 1 Cup butter

  • 1 Cup packed brown sugar (the dark works best)

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 Cups white flour

  • Walnuts (pieces or halves)

  • Small bowl of sugar to roll cookie dough in

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together the butter, brown sugar and egg. Add vanilla and flour and mix until well blended.

Roll dough into walnut-sized balls. Roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet, pressing down slightly with bottom of glass. Place walnut(s) on top of pressed ball.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

This recipe is so easy and easily altered.

Alternatives:

  • Roll in a cinnamon and sugar mixture (3 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon)

  • After baking, immediately press a Hershey’s kiss into middle of cookie

  • Do not add walnuts

Counting our Blessings,
