In order to effectively explain how Alterna’s advanced technologies can enrich your hair-care routine, I consulted an expert, Alberti Popaj, Education Expert and on-air guest for the brand. Take a look at our conversation to learn how their high-end innovations can make over your mane.

Missy: What is Alterna all about?
Alberti: Alterna is a professional hair-care brand that has been bringing new innovations to the industry since 1997. We offer luxury formulas with natural ingredients, so you’ll start to see a true transformation in your hair after just ONE use.

M: How is Alterna different from other hair-care brands?
A: We’re different because we use pure ingredients, like caviar and bamboo. Their essential nutrients help transform hair to its highest potential, so it becomes shiny, soft, and manageable.

M: How did you become involved with Alterna?
A: I’ve been in the hair-care industry for several years and have had exposure to many brands. I’ve always admired Alterna’s products because I FEEL a difference in my hair after I use them. When I had the opportunity to work exclusively with the brand and tell their story on QVC, to me, it was a perfect match. It’s a brand I’m passionate about because it offers the ultimate luxury experience.

M: What’s your role in the company?
A: As the Education Expert for the brand, my role is to know all of the ins and outs of our products and what they’ll do for your hair and your hair type (I’m an ingredient junkie, so that’s actually FUN for me!). Then, I get to share my knowledge with YOU, the viewer, and give you all the tips and tricks to help you have a great hair day every day!

M: What are some of Alterna’s key innovative ingredients?
A: At Alterna, we’re always looking for unique and effective ingredients for our formulas. Our two key ingredient families that are creating the most “buzz” in the industry are pure caviar extract and organic bamboo extract.

M: Why are they so important?
A. Coupled with other amazing natural ingredients, these base ingredients transform your hair in a way you can see and feel.

M: Is each product line universal or are they intended for specific hair types?
A: All of our products are great, but yes, we do have specific formulas that are most effective on different hair types. The Caviar collection is all about antiaging for the hair. So, if you process your hair and feel like your locks need a lift, this is your go-to family of products! Within the Bamboo collection, we’ve paired our key ingredient with secondary ingredients that deliver specific results to combat frizz, color fading, volume, and dullness issues.

M: Which products would you recommend to introduce or convert a customer to Alterna?
A: I think trying any Alterna product just once is enough to make you love the brand, but QVC customers are continually raving about our Caviar Moisture 3-Piece Hair Repair Collection and our Bamboo Volume Shampoo & Conditioner. These two items continually exceed expectations and you’ll love them. My additional recommendation would have to be our latest addition to QVC, Bamboo Smooth Kendi Pure Treatment Oil. It’s an amazing treatment and styling aid for anyone who fights frizz on a regular basis.

M: Do you have any tips on how to create the perfect holiday hairstyles? A: There are definitely a variety of looks that we consider "party perfect" for the holidays. During this time of year, we have an endless checklist of things to do and people to see. With the right tools, you can look effortlessly fabulous from one social gathering to the next.

My personal favorite look is the "perfect pony" because it can take you from day to night without a lot of maintenance, but it ALWAYS wows and draws attention because of its dramatic height! To get this look, start by applying Bamboo Dry Oil Mist & Anti-Breakage Protectant Spray on damp hair prior to blow drying. It’ll help prevent flyways and frizz. Secure your ponytail at the crown of the head for height and drama, and polish it off with more Bamboo Dry Oil Mist & Anti-Breakage Protectant Spray for a sleek, shiny look. To finish, spray Caviar Working Hairspray on the palms of your hands and lightly smooth out any “hair stragglers" around the corners of your face and along the sides.

My other favorite party look is weightless curls with volume! For this, we want to start out with a good-for-you cleanse with Bamboo Volume Shampoo & Conditioner and a generous dose of Bamboo Volume 48-Hour Spray & Root-Blast Spray near the roots and throughout damp hair. It’ll keep your hair full and voluminous between washings for up to 48 hours! Then, use your favorite styling tools for drying your hair and creating curls (my personal favorite is to blow out the hair with a 1-1/2-inch barrel brush and then set it with a curling iron). Once you've finished curling, gently run your fingers through your hair to break up some of the curls for a natural look. Finish off with a light spritz of Caviar Working Hairspray to lock in hold and add shine! Now, you'll be ready to shine like a star at any occasion and you've got the Alterna guarantee that it's going to be seasonably chic!
