Do you know what time of year it is? It's the time of year when my garden starts to really come alive! I figured it was time to share what's "growing on" with my garden now…:
One downside, though…and I'm sure other gardeners can relate…I have managed to get poison ivy on my hands, face, neck, and…to be continued…as it does not go away easily on me! It’s an annual event for me. This time I honestly think I got the poison ivy after cleaning out my garage...I must do a better job of cleaning my tools!
That said…poison ivy, snakes, and any other challenges will not stop me from adding clearance plants to my menagerie of a garden! I stocked up on sale plants and my garden is reaping the reward…
No berries yet on my goji berry bush...but my clearance raspberry bushes are coming back to life!
My fig trees are starting to show promise. I hope to put the pair inside with my lime tree during the winter.
A few of my butterfly bushes are starting to flower...I planted them in my dog Misty's memory.
My water garden keeps leaking, but I am beginning to see my underwater lilies thrive…I have a feeling Misty would have pulled them out of the pot as she loved to “garden” too!
I am definitely not ready for a vegetable stand so I better keep my day job...but my lettuce is surviving the rabbits, my crooked neck squash has lots of blooms, and my mint looks great!
I am anxious to see my pumpkin vine in fall since I have lots of blooms!
My flowering potatoes have gone crazy, so I am excited to see what happens in my harvest in September.
The tomatoes are really tall...my dad is in heaven telling me to pinch the suckers but I have to admit I love to see them thrive…
I actually have a lot of grapes! I promise you, these are the most sour you will ever eat...
You might remember my previous blog about how to make the succulents wreath. Well, I also made a tea pot and shoe project with succulents…check back later in the season for tutorials about how to make them yourself.
What is your favorite plant that you have in your garden? And share your garden updates and projects, please! I'd love to see how your gardens are growing.
Have a wonderful and safe fourth of July!
All the best,
Pat
