She did it! My daughter, Lauren, is a homeowner! That part of the journey is complete. Now, onto the fun stuff: decorating!
So here’s the backstory… When Lauren graduated from college, she shared an apartment with her good friend, Brittany. Brittany was attending graduate school and Lauren was starting her new job. It was a perfect situation for both of them. They were best friend in high school but went to different colleges and had always dreamed of being roomies. When Brit graduated, she got a job that took her a little too far for the commute, and so Lauren had to come up with another living arrangement. After some long conversations, research, planning, etc., she made the decision to look into buying a home. Why pay rent when you can put that money toward a mortgage and eventually own something? Fortunately, in the meantime, Lauren was able to move in with my sister and family. What a blessing! She was able to save even more money for her down payment over the last year. And I think it worked out nicely for my sister, too, to have another person there to help with the kids, errands, taxi service. And the best part is, Chelsea will be her new roomie! I am so excited for them to be together again.
The James & Jayne storage, furniture refinishing, packing, painting, and moving company went to work on Phase One a couple months ago.
Lauren, Chelsea, and I refinished an antique desk that belonged to my grandparents, and we brought new life to a dresser and nightstand that my sister had in her basement. We sanded, painted, and add new knobs…it looks like a million bucks! We love to repurpose items. Check out their handiwork.
We did the move in two weekends. The first weekend was for painting and moving of some of the smaller items. We were able to set up the kitchen and bathrooms so they could stay there.
The second weekend, last weekend, was for moving the big stuff. Ugh, I am still so sore! But after a lot of hard work we finally got to do a little decorating. We hung a few pictures, added some great accessories (you might recognize a few—they took them from my house!). It was a family affair; my mom and mother-in-law, sister, and nieces were all there to lend a hand.
When I got in my car to head home, I could not get the smile off of my face. I can’t even put into words how proud I am of Lauren and Chelsea. I pray for their home to be filled with love and many happy times in the future. God bless them and protect them in their Home Sweet Home.
Blessings,
Jayne
