Here We Go, 2016!

We have AMAZING people working at QVC. You’ll hear me say this a lot: I can’t believe I get to work here. So so so so so lucky and grateful. From our distribution centers, to our call centers, to our “officeland” teams, to our backstage teams: every group in this organization is outstanding and incredibly important.

We had 26 hosts as of this summer at QVC. These folks are all unique, smart, incredibly talented people. We now have 3 more in training: Elise Ivy, Katie McGee, and (still can’t believe it) me. It’s exciting, happily-overwhelming, and an HONOR. ALSO, it takes a VILLAGE. A BIG one. Thought I might share some of the advice & tips from the amazing folks and hosts I’m so very lucky to know.

Our customer service is the BEST, hands down. I’ll always shout this from the rafters! They taught me how important it is to LISTEN. ALWAYS. And our production team, has taught me the importance of being PATIENT. They took someone on with no experience and shared the knowledge and the love. They work hard ALL THE TIME. This team is a dream come true.

Jonathan Dowdell is a producer and an INCREDIBLE person. He can juggle a ton of information at once, throw out what isn’t needed, and make a show work (with zero time to do it). He taught (and still teaches) me the HUGE value of ALL feedback. Our stylists are FABULOUS. I’m pretty sure Toi is my spirit animal. They continue to share with all of us how to OWN our style. Our dedicated In the Kitchen with David team is just as wonderful as they seem: Gabe, Sean, Liz, Shum, Justin, Chuck, Zack, Shannon, Jim, Jennifer, and LESLIE, just to name a few. Smiley Happy They have taught all of us the value in TEAMWORK.

Amy and Tovi <SIGH> they are the kind of girlfriends that you dream of. They have the best advice, we get to all work together, and they are so wicked smart. It would take way too long to explain how important and special they are. It would take even LONGER to write down everything they have done and shared over the years.  I’ll just put it this way: they are the kind of people you want to be when you grow up. They have taught the value of SUPPORT.

Our guest community has shared their unwavering work ethic over the years. No matter the time of day, they’re ready to go and bring the FUN! They have taught and continue to teach PERSERVERANCE.

Our host team is so supportive and willing to share their expertise. There has been some great tips over the years…

Alberti Popaj: told me to always SMILE. Even if you think you’re lost, if you smile, you’ll find your way. And if you STAY lost, “GIRL, at least you’ll look better!”

Carolyn Gracie: INCLUSION. No matter the show or activity, Carolyn always makes you feel like you’re part of it and that you’re welcome to be there.

Jane Treacy & Jill Bauer: PROFESSIONALISM. Both of these incredible ladies have shared so much amazing advice over the years about how to maintain focus no matter what and to keep it fun and informative at the same time.

Kerstin Lindquist & Rachel Boesing: FRIENDSHIP. They are ALWAYS there to champion, support, and inspire our team! And NEVER forget to LAUGH.

Rick Domeier: HAVE FUN. About ten minutes before I had to interview the band Train all by myself, I blinked nervously at him through my newly-acquired false eyelashes and said, “Any advice for me?” He said, “Get out there and have fun.” He was absolutely right.

Mary Beth Roe: GRACE. There is no one else like Mary Beth Roe. No matter what is happening: Mary Beth is the epitome of compassion, thoughtfulness, and shared-experience.

Katie McGee & Elise Ivy: NO FEAR. Every day they come to work with a joy that’s infectious. They’re in a new town, in a new job, with all new people. They teach all of us about the joy you can experience when you set fear aside. I can’t wait for you to get to know them… THEY’RE WONDERFUL PEOPLE!

David Venable: EVERYTHING! Where on Earth to start: consummate professional, screaming good fun, incredibly smart, great leader, and welcoming. It’s an honor to work with him and I’m so proud to call him my friend. David has shared since day one: always take care of your team and ALWAYS take care of our friends watching.

SO what piece of advice continues to be the most influential? LOVE. It’s from you: those of you that watch, shop, share on community and social, come to our live events, or we meet out in public. You share how much you love QVC for all kinds of reasons. You love the products, the folks you see on-air, and the positive relationships we all share. You have shared that love back in limitless amounts and we’re all forever grateful. Keep the advice coming! I’ll keep sharing the love too. Smiley Happy
