Grandma Ann's Jello... An Easy Holiday Treat!

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving (or Christmas, or 4th of July or any other holiday for that matter) without Grandma Ann’s Jello.  I’m sure you’ve enjoyed something similar, or exactly like it, along the way.  If not, here’s how I make my Grandma’s jello:

Start with your favorite Jello (or gelatin) flavor (small size) & whipped topping.  I chose Jolly rancher cherry because Isabella loves cherry flavors & generic whipped topping because it makes my grocery budget go a little further!

(Pretty much follow the directions on the gelatin package.)

*Add 1 cup boiling water to the gelatin mix; stir 2 minutes until completely dissolved.

*I used the speed-set method, and added ice to 1/2C cold water to make 1-1/4 cups.  *I then stirred it into the gelatin until slightly thickened.  I then removed any unmelted ice.

*Next put it in the refrigerator & check on it after an hour to see if it has a slight bounciness when you touch it.  If it’s still runny, check back every 30 minutes until it has the slight bounce versus being completely firm.

*When you feel it has that “bounce”, take it out of the refrigerator and add about 1 Cup of whipped topping.  (Feel free to add more or less depending on your taste.)  Use an electric mixer or stir by hand until creamy.

*You can either leave it in the bowl in which you prepared it, or…

…you can scoop it into special dessert glasses.  I chose to scoop mine into the crystal dessert glasses passed down to me from my Grandma Ann.

*Regardless of the container, put it back in the refrigerator and let it set overnight or for at least 4 hours.

*When it’s time to serve, top with an extra dollop of whipped topping, add some holiday sprinkles, and enjoy!

May your heart be full of gratitude this Thanksgiving Day and every day!

Sending you Love….
