Getting Back to You

Thanks for all the wonderful questions and comments! I particularly enjoyed reading your feedback on Lipstick vs. Lip Gloss. It seems that I have many kindred spirits out there who just can’t get enough of either.

TX-starlight: I say go for a little lip color! But I agree 100% — it’s very hard to see yourself in a full-on red lip when you’re used to the natural look. Try starting with a softer hue in the form of a lip stain or tint like Liptini Lip Liqueur Lip & Cheek Stain. It’s a much more muted way to do lip color and it’s long-lasting to boot (some people find tints a little drying, but you can always remedy that by layering with clear gloss or balm). Another great option is a tinted lip balm like the one Bobbi Brown offers. Once you’re comfortable with color, you can work your way up to a bolder look.

setagirl: Your question about the best skin care regimens for those over 60 is one that’s no doubt shared by many. I have some great info for you straight from Dr. Denese and Dr. Audrey Kunin of DERMAdoctor fame and am in the process of putting together a separate blog entry just to address this issue. But my top recommendations in terms of brands are the two lines I just mentioned, plus Clientele, DDF, and Perricone MD. More to come…

CARS: Regarding dry time for the Bare Escentuals Faux Tan, I hope you caught the answer in my entry on self-tanners and have been beautifully bronzed ever since. In case you missed it, about 15 minutes should do it.

tendercolors: Glad to hear you’re having luck with some of the philosophy miracle worker products! In answer to your question about DDF, I’ve tried many other lines in recent months, but find myself returning to the DDF Advanced Firming Cream and Eye Concentrate night after night. In terms of your troubles with too-heavy treatments, I’d recommend giving the new Bare Escentuals RareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser a try. It’s light, gentle, hydrating, and leaves my skin feeling totally refreshed whether I use it alone or in conjunction with the Clarisonic PLUS. You also may be interested to read the info I’m putting together on mature skin (such a great idea, setagirl!), so be sure to check back. If you do try the BE cleanser, please let me know what you think!

NHkvs: I was going to tell you that you were in luck — we do carry the Vanilla + Bergamot line of Bliss products, including the Body Butter, Body Buff, and Soapy Suds. But I see by your customer reviews that you found it on your own. Enjoy!

Irene: falling in love by philosophy is one of my all-time favorite scents! I’m honestly not sure why it wasn’t featured during the anniversary shows, but you can always find it any time on QVC.com.

(Added 7/14) Tricolor: As luck would have it, the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse with the application mitt  is airing this weekend. You can find it and the Auto-Delivery option online right now. Happy tanning!
