Diva's Friendsgiving Party

I have a wonderful circle of friends known as “The Divas”! We gather together a few times a year to encourage and uplift each other, and celebrate our friendship. Just in time for the holidays, I hosted a “Divas Friendsgiving Party”!

Some of the Divas are familiar faces from QVC

And here's ALL The DIVAS!

At the suggestion of some of the other Divas, I decided to also make it a “Favorite Things” gift exchange. Apparently, Favorite Things Parties have become popular thanks to Oprah, but this was the first I had heard of them.

With my theme set, I began planning the details of the party. I thought gold worked for the holiday season, so I used gold and evergreens for the decorations. Balloons and lights were an easy way to make things festive.

I always like to have a surprise element at my parties, so I decided to have a caricature artist to draw my Diva guests.

Debbie, the caricature artist was fantastic!  She really captured the fun of her subjects!

I left the food to a good caterer, and the only thing I had to prepare was the signature cocktail—no Diva gathering would be complete without one.

Here’s how the Favorite Things exchange worked. Each Diva chose her favorite thing (priced at $15 or less) and brought four of that item unwrapped to the party.

Before hand, I made signs and tags for everyone attending.

When a Diva arrived, she put her four “faves” on the table with her sign, and put the four tags with her name in a jar. When it was time to exchange, each person told the group what she brought and why it was her favorite—then she drew 4 tags from the jar, and gave her favorites to those four people. It was so much fun! And the favorite things were great — there were candles, popcorn, slippers, books, wine, chocolate, eye masks, fluffy throws, selfie lights and more!

I ordered canvas tote bags and had them embroidered to give as favors for everyone to carry their new favorites home

It was one of the best afternoons ever, and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend a “Favorite Things Party” for your circle of friends. And the best part is, you can do it any time of year.

Here's a picture of my favorite things haul and caricature! (I got a great book, fluffy throw, wine stopper, candle and jacks!)
