Designer vs Diva : What's your Favorite Fall Season Trend??

Hey Denim Divas!!

Now that Fall is in full fashion swing, it's time for a new Designer vs Diva Customer Survey! THIS time, Designer Gary and I want to know, "Which of these Fall Fashion Trends do you like the most?" Is it the fun, new PLAID top  or the new top with the pretty EMBROIDERY detail? Gary and I each love BOTH, and have picked our favorites (which we may or may not be holding in the photos below!) We'd love to know which one you like best, and why.....so take a look at the photos and the description of each new top, and then VOTE for your FAVORITE!

You are also welcome to leave your comments and suggestions as well! The survey will remain open until Tuesday, October 31st. Then, we will reveal WHICH top got the most votes, during our 11am Denim and Company show (with "Gar-olyn") on Tuesday, November 7th. We'll also tell you then, which of us picked which top as our OWN favorite! So vote for your favorite, tell us why, and be sure to tune in on November 7th for the results! Meanwhile, be sure to join us every Tuesday at 11am eastern (10 am on 11/28 and 12/12 !) for lots of fun and fashion with Designer Gary Goben and me, with Denim and Company! Don't forget to join us live on my Facebook page (Carolyn Gracie QVC) during the shows and again AFTER the show for a live "Gabbing with Gar-olyn" chat, usually around 12:30p, during which you can ask your Denim and Co questions and give us your feedback LIVE on my FB page!

ITEM A:

This is a stretch weave, yarn-dyed plaid shirt, with a button front and bib front design, long sleeves, a shirt collar and curved hemline.

For those who are mad for plaid, it is again a fun Fall trend! This top is semi-fitted, following the lines of your body with added wearing ease and is made of 97% cotton and 3% spandex.  It is easy care, machine wash and tumble dry. Plaids are a classic and really never go out of style! The special details like the bib inset on this shirt, give it a fresh look. It's perfect to wear on it's own or to layer under your favorite jacket or sweater. Don't forget plaids are a great way to update your denim and corduroy bottoms for Fall and can be dressed up as well!!

ITEM B:

A299208......The Denim and Company Perfect Jersey Long Sleeve Embroidered Top

image2.JPG

This is a knitted top, made of one of our customer favorite fabrications...95% cotton and 5% spandex...which we call Perfect Jersey. It features a round neckline, long sleeves, a straight hemline and embroidered details at the shoulders.  It is semi-fitted, which allows it to follow the lines of your body with added wearing ease, and is easy care machine wash and tumble dry. Embroidery detail adds a feminine touch and a fresh look to a classic shirt design. This top is as comfortable as your favorite t-shirt, but has the on trend embroidery at the shoulders for a fresh, updated touch and the "tabletop dressing" factor which allows this top to dress up any outfit for your special occasions this Fall season. It would look terrific with jeans, pants or skirts and elevates the look of your basic outfits as well!

Hi Carolyn.  I voted for the tunic, not the plaid.

You and Gary are the BEST together, your both so funny, and offer a great extra special touch to the Q !

I voted for the tunic. I love all of the cozy clothing for the Fall Season. I’m obsessed with hoodies, scarves, beanies, fleece, all of it!!!

Carolyn, I prefer the plaid but DO NOT LIKE the diagonal bib on the front, ruins the design and plaid; it can stand on its own without that diagonal area.  Not fond of the plaid colors, you can do better, go back in time for the appropriate color plaids.  Buffalo check, scottish plaids, no pastel plaids, etc.  I am not fond of embroidery since way too girly for my taste, and will go with plaid first, but the plaid needs updating and altering.

Please let us know what jeans you are wearing, they look wonderful on you!

I selected the embroidered top, however if the plaid had been FLANNEL, I would have picked it.

Hi guys!

With all due respect and no offense intended...I voted for the plaid shirt simply because I had to vote for one or the other even though I do not like either one enough to purchase or wear them. Sorry I love D&Co but Im just being perfectly honest. Theres too much going on with the plaid and too much white in there. Its just too bizzy for me. The brown and green plaids were the least annoying.

I would never wear the embroidered top. Its just not me. Too prissy and I do not wear necklines that high. Im sure they are both high quality pieces but again just not something I would enjoy wearing.

Love the Garolyn shows we need more of them and more than one hour per show. Looks like the perfect jersey top is in the lead so far which means my preferences are not in line with most of your customers. Guess Im more Studio style, rock'n'roll, city girl. I do enjoy these designer vs diva blogs. Its fun to interact. take care!!

Peace!! Rose

Was going to vote for the plaid but don't like the bib insert, so I voted for the other top.   Love Denim and Co.

As Rose said in her comment above, I must choose either the plaid or the embroidered top due to the competition, but here's why I'm concerned about both. At '60', even though I try to watch my weight, I have a few lumps and bumps that don't look great in the average 95/5 cotton/spandex top, so I tend to wear those kind of tops under other shirts with the shirts unbuttoned for a casual jacket look. As doing this would nullify the effect of the embroidered shoulders, I wouldn't get much wear out of the top. The plaid shirt would've been cuter, in my humble opinion, if the placket was done in a solid color that coordinated to plaid. My other concern is the bust measurement on the shirt itself as it seems to run about an inch too big (even with shrinkage considerations). I normally wear a Medium, but have found in other Denim and Company cotton plaid shirts that they look boxy due to the large chest measurement. Sizing down to a Small would not work as then the shirt would be too tight. Perfect 'Medium' sizing for me is no larger than 43.5" in the bust. Most likely, I'll pass on both offerings, though if I HAD to pick one, I'd probably go with the plaid shirt that has the brown tones in it as I ordered some of the Denim & Co., Cargo jogger pants in the brown color and I'm unsure of what I'm going to wear with them. Thanks for always presenting a great show. I'm a HUGE fan and try to watch every Tuesday morning when Denim and Company is on. I love you both, Carolyn & Gary and feel like you're friends, You're both so personable and fun! I've been watching you for years. Take care, God Bless and have a wonderful holiday season! ~Cindy from So Cal~

I have to agree with some of the other comments. I really don’t care for either one. The blouse ‘bib’ turns me off and it’s not flannel. Whatever happened to ‘good old gingham checks and buffalo plaids’ that aren’t all glitzed up? I would love those, in normal standard colors...blue, black, red, etc. Not a fan of embroidery either so the sweater did not grab me. Leave the embroidery to children’s clothing. Hope I haven’t offended anyone but you wanted our honest comments. Love you both and watch every week. My collection of Denim & Co goes back many, many years!

I like the plaid top . But do not like spandex in everything , it is cold and not soft .I like 100% cotton , please make tops that are comfortable .

I like the embroidery much better.  The plaid would look better without the bib or if had ruffles on the bib

Definately the embroidered top. I do like plaid blouses but don't care for the center bib; would prefer just a button down the front blouse.

I am enjoying the touch of embroidery this season.  I particularly like it on denim.  My first reaction when looking at this top in the photo above was that it looked old fashioned, but I changed my mind when I saw it on you!

I vote for the embroidered top (In fact, I have already ordered it in the  chocolate color!) I feel the plaid shirt would have been much nicer if the "bib" section were done in  one of the solid colors in the plaid,. rather than in the bias application you used. (Maybe next time???)

I love the Garolyn shows!  I think you two have the best working relationship of any pairing on QVC!  We can tell that you respect  each other and have a genuine friendship - Your shows are fun to watch!

Gary, I am happy to see that you still offer some classic and comfortable designs for the older, retired audience!  Not everyone has a need for  sequined polyester tops with sharkbite hems!!! LOL  Knit tops and pull-on pants dominate my closet and Denim & Co fulfills my wardrobe needs!!

I really like both tops this time, and I really like the bib on the plaid top.  I love the color combonations in the plaids this fall and I prefer multi-color plaids and florals depending on how they're made. Ordinarily I don't care for embrodery on tops, but the way the colors pop on the black and nany tops is really gorgeous. I'm afraid the embrodery will not show up under a jacket or cardigan, but hope I can wear it in warmer weather. I think the plaid bib section will show up especially well under a jacket. And yes, I've ordered both styles!

I voted for the embroidered top, but I like a longer top. I am not a plaid fan, but this one is cute, hope plaid fans enjoy it.

Hi Gary & Carolyn, I love the plaid, but not going the different directions. I voted for the embroidered top. Thank you for everything you do to help people feel pretty and fashionable.

I don't care for either one, but I'd go with the plaid.  I really don't care for the embroidery around the neckline of the tee.  In fact, I don't care for the neckline either.

I prefer the edgier pieces in this line; neither of these choices speaks to me.

I prefer plaid on flannel fabric...if it is not I prefer plain with collar to layer under sweaters in a preppy way.  I love how the embroidered top looks on Carolyn...embroidery is so feminine and this is different because of the shoulder location instead of collar or hem. I love the fit of Gary's designs, and how Carolyn gives advice on what to wear together.  love you both.

I have to say I really do not care for either one enough to purchase or wear.  I find the tunic knit one less unlikeable, but I don't much care for emboidery either.  I would normally be more drawn to a plaid, but not this kind with the bib insert & all.  I just prefer the standard traditionaly plaids from Irish clans no ruffles, sometimes the more simple the prettier an item is and more wearable too.

Do not like either, tacky, tacky.  What happened to Denim and Co?  Nothing special at all

by
on ‎10-27-2017 05:14 AM

hi carolyn&gary, I luv to watch the two of u(garolyn) Gary will u do some embroidered jeans and the ones with rips in them as pull ons, those seem to fit me better! Thank u for listening .

Love plaid but not the bib on this.  Hate all the embroidery on everything...cheapens everything.  Give us timeless not trendy.

by
on ‎10-29-2017 06:43 PM

I just have to be truthful and say that I don't care for either top.  I do occasionally purchase from Denim & Co as well as other vendors but not this time.

by
on ‎10-30-2017 07:44 AM

Carolyn - I like the first one  (just ordered two colors).  I do love plaid but hate that bib look on the front.  It totally ruins the top for me.

I do have a question though, I LOVE your black sneakers.  Could you kindly tell me what brand they are?  I am obsessed with them.  Thank you.

@loveour4leggedfriends  The stripe on the sneakers makes me think they are Pumas.
