by ‎03-13-2017 11:59 PM - edited ‎03-28-2017 08:37 AM

Hello, Denim Divas!!

The official “start of Spring” is almost here, and Designer Gary and I wanted to ask your opinion on another great set of NEW Denim and Company items for the new season!! So, for our latest Designer vs Diva viewer survey….we’d like  to know which of these is YOUR favorite Spring Must Have??

Is it the Striped Sleeveless Maxi Dress OR is it the Inspirational Short Sleeve Top? Both are new and both are popular categories of women’s apparel for the Spring and Summer seasons.

So, let us know which of these you like best, and why, by voting below. Your feedback is always welcome as well! We will reveal which item got the most of your votes, in two weeks, during our Denim and Company show on Tuesday, March 28th! We’ll also tell you then which one is MY pick and which one is GARY’S and why!! Thanks for voting!!

XO--Carolyn

CHOICE A:

A288729....Denim & Co. Striped Sleeveless Maxi Dress with Solid Border

carolyn1.JPG

We love this maxi dress!! It’s fun, sporty, classic, and looks great on everyone! If you are not a fan of sleeveless, simply add a wrap, a shrug or a light jacket or cardigan, and you are all set!

Maxi dresses are always something we look forward to when the weather gets warmer….a nice alternative to pants….and with Denim and Company’s maxi dresses, they are never overly long, so you are not tripping over the hemline. The length for all sizes is 54 inches. This dress would be great for a garden party, dinner out, or a vacation option for your trip to the beach or on that upcoming cruise. It’s done in one of your favorite fabrications…Perfect Jersey, and the stripes give it that summertime nautical flair, and the  silhouette is flattering for all figure types!

CHOICE B:

A288714 - Denim & Co. Inspirational Print Round NeckShort Sleeve Top

carolyn2.JPG

We love our t-shirts and this one is extra special with an all over print of inspirational messages! The theme of having happy sayings or special words on fashion items has become a huge trend and is a lot of fun!  This shirt has a lovely round neckline and the short sleeves you’ve been asking for,  to enjoy wearing in the warmer weather.  The fabrication is Perfect Jersey, done in 95 percent cotton for breathability and 5 percent spandex for wearing ease.

This top would add an updated touch to your wardrobe and can be worn with everything from shorts to crops to capris to skirts and skorts!! It’s always nice to freshen up your t-shirt collection for each season, since we all love to wear them so often.  Try wearing it with a light vest or as a layering piece under a spring jacket or cardigan. This particular short sleeve top is so much more than “just” another t-shirt and we bet you’ll get lots of compliments!

And the winner is...A288729 - Denim and Co Striped Sleeveless Maxi Dress with Solid Border!

I sound like a broken record  but please, can we have more maxi dresses in petite length? I know there have been some in the past but only limited styles. Also a border print design usually cannot be shortened without compromising the intended design.

yes D&C team I agree you are always leaving us short people out, I would love more maxis but are limited to a scattered few.

The dress is nice, but please offer petites. I would actually like this dress (in petite) if it was a solid color with a contrassting color band at the bottom. I like stripes but not from neck to ankle. I have also found that armholes on sleeveless garments run very large across all clothing brands on QVC. As for the shirt, it's cute but I don't wear any shirt that has writing or obvious logos. Still love Denim and Co.

I never wear round or crew necks.  I prefer a V, square or bateau neck.  So if I had to pick it would be the dress because at least the scoop isn't as close to the neck.  Crew necks make larger women look dumpy.  I also never buy anything with words or messages on them.  Too cutesy, sickly sweet for me.  Frankly, I wouldn't really want to buy either of them.  The dress would look nice on a small person so I voted for the dress.

Bad choices, neither are appealing for a mature woman, would make us look heavier than we already are, not voting this time.

Again another maxi dress I can't wear, I am 60 inches. Every other brand can come up with a petite option why can't denim and co? Not just 1 or 2 a year every choice of dress should be available in both regular and petite, or how about more midi dresses.

Petites please!

I prefer the top with the inspirational messages.  However, may I ask  favor?  Can you do the top with messages scattered loosely on the top, instead of the horizontal lines?

Thank you.

Unless you're thin the stripes should be going north/south not east/west!! Also please do petite sizing.Tailoring is costly & all to often compromises the intended style!!!

Please give us sleeves. Most or many of us hate our arms !!!!!!

I would like to see more styles of the summer maxi dress. Petite length with a sexy side slit, one with both sides slit, short slits and OMG side slits to the thigh, strategic prints that make you look slimmer and taller, one with a built in bra shelf that is off the shoulder sexy! Gauze fabrics, soft butterknit fabrics, Jeannedreams fabrics!  I am throwing down the gauntlet designers! Where you at Denim and Co, Isaac, Lisa Rinna, Qaucker, Halston, Renee??? Show us what you can do and WOW US!!

Carolyn you look fab in that dress, hope you get one!

Thanks for the great designs Gary.

Carolyn....love your shaw......item number please.  Also, being 5'3", I agree with others regarding petite sizes.

by
on ‎03-15-2017 10:45 AM

Neither, unfortunately.

You may never trip over the hemline of that dress, but it is 54" long and I am 60" tall. I would have to wear that dress on my ears to have it come above my toes. It looks really sporty and cute you, Carolyn, but it would be a mess on me. I'd love to see more petite maxi dresses, but being extra short, even petite maxi dresses come close to the floor on me.

I also don't like shirts with small script print because people have to get close and look hard to be able to read it. I don't really want people staring at my chest that hard.

Sorry but neither one for me. I don't do sleeveless or horizontal stripes.
by
on ‎03-16-2017 10:46 AM

Like so many other women, I need a PETITE length.  The dress is cute, but it would drag on the floor if I wore it.

I voted for the short sleve top, though there are many d & co tops I'd actually buy instead of that one.  I just would never wear a maxi dress other than around my house.  I lve in the Midwest;  maybe I lead a sheltered life, but I never see maxi dresses worn around here.

Woman Frustrated  so frustrated. there is no way I will wear horizontal stripes period end of story thank you very much. LOL. they can be cute on other women but not me. I did not vote because there was no option for neither.

dont get me wrong I have been a Q shopper over 20 years and wear D&Co pieces regularly, I realize the team works hard but with all due respect I am frustrated that so far I have not been able to find  a maxi dress or skirt from that line I like well enough to purchase. was so hoping for a printed maxi without the border at hem without stripes or florals. good luck to you Im sure these pieces will sell well. I will keep watching and waiting.

What is the problem with your buyers not ordering petite sizing, it's evident from all the responses from small women that there is a need. A woman needs to be at least 5ft6 to wear the length you offer and not look frumpy and dumpy.Last time I checked the average height for women in the US it is still 5ft4. Truly petite women are shorter all over, just not the length, but I'm sure you already know that. I feel like I am being discriminated against, it's not like it's going to cost more to make a petite size and if indeed it does surely you will get it back in increased sales.

Neither ... unfortunately.

Not every one can wear or wants to wear horizontal stripes!

Horizontal stripes widen out a body - eyes going side to side

Vertical stripes will elongate the body - eyes going up and down

Horizontal Stripes Study Proves What Every Fashion Editor

Already Knows

It’s a fashion truth universally acknowledged by every editor worth her Celine bag: horizontal stripes make you look fatter, vertical stripes make you look skinnier.

But it seems like scientists aren’t content with fashion industry expertise, drawing up their own studies every couple of years to settle the horizontal vs. vertical (non)debate. According to the Telegraph, the latest experiment comes from Val Watham, who just won the BBC’s Amateur Scientist of the Year award for her horizontal vs. vertical study. [Ed. note: are amateur scientists a thing?]

Watham conducted her study by showing random strangers pictures of models in vertical stripes, horizontal stripes or head-to-toe black. Lo and behold, participants perceived the vertical-wearers as thinner, the horizontal-wearers as wider and the monochrome dressers the skinniest of all. Science!

Love the Maxi! And I feel the thinner stripes look better on the body than thick ones. Woman Happy

Also if it helps anyone requesting the petite sizing, I am 5'4" - so on the cusp of petite - and have many of Gary's Maxis. I am able to wear them with a FLAT sandal/shoe and they skim my foot; they do not drag . So if someone is 5'2" or so, they may be able to wear his "regular" maxi dresses with just a small heel.

Pattyann62526: This is an ED scarf which is not available now. A264717

Won't be voting this time. I don't wear horizontal stripes on clothes. No messages on me or in my home like on the t-shirt. The t-shirt colors are nice, though. There are other D&Co. tops I'll be buying.

by
on ‎03-16-2017 02:45 PM

I wouldn't vote for either of these choices.

On a brighter note, I bought all four of last month's winner!

A no-go for both options for me...I don't find either one flattering!!!

by

I could not pick either choice presented.  I will not wear horizontal stripes as they make me look wider.  Some of us ladies have never accepted that sales pitch from any designer.   I have 3 Denim and Co maxi dresses.  Each had to be shortened for my 5' 4" frame.  I would be interested in knowing the measurements on a petite maxi.   I no longer wear heels due to an auto accident.

For us chesty girls please watch where the focal points fall when planning the placement of prints.   Embarrassed to say that I wore a dress from another Q designer and did not notice that the flower of the "placement print" fell right on target.  My DIL pointed it out and I had to go home to change clothes.   Now I carefully watch all prints in the shows.  I notice this happens even on the small models.

I enjoy my purchases I have made over the years..  Thanks to you both for all you do.

I can't vote for any of them. I won't buy horizontal stripes or sleeveless.  I might have Tried the sayings if they hadn't been arranged in a horizontal line.  Sorry, These are all no go with me, but I'm sure many people will like them.  Thanks for asking

How do customers know about these surveys? Looks like fun! As always, Carolyn and Gary always have such a good time and are trying to please the QVC customers. Thanks for everything they do.

Hi Carolyn and Gary,

Would you please consider bringing back A254901.  These are the best fitting pants for older women who do not want their waistline down past their belly button.  The weight is perfect for year round wear and they wear like iron.  They are perfect for travel, for shopping and.....for things like yoga classes and physical therapy.

I don't understand why you would discontinue such a popular pant...perhaps manufacturing issues, but, for a top seller and one with great reviews, they are certainly a pant worth bringing back.  I'm sorry but my only alternative now is the Lands End pant that is the same quality and fit.

I've worn D & C for years, but, the quality and your target consumer seems to have changed.

WOW, I must watch the wrong D&C show.  I've seen lots of adorable Petite clothing on the show.  I'm not sure about Maxi's as they are just coming into the lines of several vendors.  The one that is shown is adorable - I also usually do not wear sleeveless especially since all of illnessess this past 8 months my arms & legs have very little muscle quality HOWEVER on that note I would wear & use this dress at a pool party for after swimming it would cover you up some & look comfortable & classy as you continue to sit around the pool.  The T-shirt I'm sorry but unless t-shirts are tunic length lately from any of the vendors I find them about an inch to short so if you could add about 3/4 to an inch that would be worth a try because always looking for t-shirts other than v-neck for everyday house wear with shorts, long pants etc.,

Thanks for the opportunities to be in on your designs etc., also I watch or tape the Tuesday show as often as possible.

Thank you Gary & Caroline

Happy Easter to you & your families.

A loving Denim & Co. wearer & owner of many items.

Dear Carolyn & Gary,

Love the two of you together on Denim & Co. shows.

Please mention to Gary us large size women not only need petites but also sleeves to the elbow instead of short ones to hide the jiggling arms. The 3/4 arm lengths are good for all seasons but I would prefer  sleeves to the elbow for summer.

Thanks.... A BIG Denim & Co. Fan.
