31 Days of Organization - The Final Four!

by on ‎02-03-2015 07:03 PM

Hi, everyone!

Happy February! I’m not a big fan of Pennsylvania’s famous groundhog right about now. Six more weeks of winter does NOT sound fun. But, we are marching right along. And believe it or not, we’ve finished our 31 Days of Organization initiative on You’re Home with Jill. If you already saw the last four tips in my collection or Facebook…act surprised. If not, here are a few final ideas.

Weekday mornings are nuts. It’s not easy to get everyone up, dressed, fed, and out the door on time. So here’s a thought: what if you already have the “getting dressed” part already figured out?

Plan Outfits Ahead of Time

Whether for you and/or the kids, having one less morning-of decision to make gives you five more minutes to wish your son or daughter good luck on a test. Or, five more minutes to have coffee with your husband.

What’s in our closet? The main piece is a Closet Organizer by Lori Greiner and some of the accessories include a Denim & Co. sweatshirt and leggings.

This might be an obvious one, but do you use your shallow drawers for undergarments, socks, and smaller items? Is your dresser organized at all?

Dresser Before...

Here's an interesting idea. If you're not overly enthusiastic about folding...you can use small PVC pipe "rings" to keep your socks together or undies sorted. The larger the pipe, the more you can fit in each ring...think sports bras, tights, or bathing suits.

Dresser After...

What does your desk drawer and dresser drawer have in common? You can file the contents and save space.

File Shirts!

If you stand your shirts up like files, you can get more in your drawer. If you drawer isn’t deep enough try folding the shirt into thirds or fourths and then stacking them. In other words, play with your folding methods to see what works best. You might even use shoe boxes to compartmentalize your stacks.

We saved one of my very favorite organization tips for last. You really can clean out your closet—even though it seems impossible. How? Ask yourself these questions.

Wardrobe Rules

If you answered no to any of those questions, DONATE the garment in question. So many organizations--and people--are in need. Pick one organization and donate anything that doesn’t fit this bill. It will be the perfect size for someone. Yes, they'll love it. Yes, they'll wear it again....and again.

Donate Clothes

I hope you found these tips helpful! Find all 31 here in my blogs, in my collection, or on Facebook.
