Hi. Does anyone recommend a decent hairspray that has no scent? I just want to set my hair but not be reminded of it later on! Help?

Re: truly unscented hairspray

I don't know of any that has absolutely no scent, but my DH will use hairspray sometimes and doesn't like most of the scents in the ones he used (and he has tried many over the years). He did find one that he really likes- so do I. TRESemme 'Tres Two' spray ultra fine mist is very lightly scented. A slight floral, fresh scent that doesn't last long. Bonus is that the mist is truly fine, no sticky globs spurting out all over when sprayed. I have seen travel sizes at our drugstores. Maybe you could try before you buy.

This one has been mentioned before on the boards and it's the one I use, Elnet by Loreal.Comes unscented and it's about thirteen dollars at Target.

Re: truly unscented hairspray

Unfortunately, fragrance free and unscented do not necessarily mean that the product doesn't have a scent nor that it doesn't contain fragrance. There is no legal definition for either term, so they can mean anything from does not contain any added fragrance (the main ingredients may have a scent) to it contains a "masking fragrance" to counteract the scent of the natural ingredients.

I have used the unscented version of Elnet and it does indeed contain fragrance (see ingredient list below). However, it is much fainter than the scent of the regular elnett and dissipates quickly. I have yet to find a hairspray that doesn't have any fragrance at all.

Elnett Unscented ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, VA/Vinyl Butyl Benzoate/Crotonates Copolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydroxycitronellal, Evernia Prunasti (Oakmoss) Extract, Aminomethyl Propanol, Limonene, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Isoeugenol, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Geraniol, Bis PEG/PPG 14/14 Dimethicone, Citronellol, Butylphenyl Methlyproprional, Citral, Courmarin, Glycerin, Amyl Cinnamal, Fragrance

Re: truly unscented hairspray

It's hard to find a truly unscented one. I'm allergic to perfumes, etc. so I have to use unscented but there is always just that little hint of a scent. Maybe it's from one of the ingredients I don't know. Maybe try Sally's Beauty. They have tons of brands.

I second going to Sally's and have a smell. I was going to recommend the Vita E unscented, but I can't find the ingredients. I would just spend an hour reading labels or just asking the clerk which one has does not fragrance to it.

The best I have found for no scent (might smell a little going on but no lingering scent) is Free and Clear found on Amazon, drugstore.com, National Allergy and other websites. They have soft and firm hold.

Clinique makes a wonderful fragrance-free, non-aerosol hairspray. It's only available on their website. Not well known, but it does have a cult following.

Even ""unscented"" products have a neutralizing aroma added to offset the smell of the chemicals
