ridge lines beginning on nails

Have noticed ridges forming on my nails. Ewww. I remember my grandfather having them, and he'd sit there and scrape them with a pocket knife!! Ewwww again. Any suggestions for me to rid them. I only wear Duri and Perfect Formula. I'd appreciate any info you have. Oh, also my one big toe is getting yuck nail??? Didn't I hear Vicks helps stuff on feet?? Love the hints I learn on here (or forget them too,,,short term memory fading)!
