Fragrance, fragrance is a trigger for your migraines, not odors, unless that was a Freudian slip) 🤭

I love fragrance so much and feel sorry for people who can't smell or enjoy fragrances/aromas.  My nose hasn't been the same since covid. I can still smell but I know from aroma's I'm familiar with that I'm not smelling them as they really are.

LOL. No Freudian slip.  I'm used to referring to any smell (perfume, candles, flowers) that bothers my head as an "odor".  I guess that word is derogatory, but I didn't mean it that way.  So many fragrances bother me.

I, too, lost my sense of smell when I had COVID, but have since regained it.  Interesting that yours was permanently affected.  I think many people are seeing long term effects.

I saw the thumbnail for that video and said "ewww".  I don't have a fear of makeup so I moved past it.  I like Allie, I just don't watch as many beauty videos as I used to.

Cute story....on the way to the city yesterday, DH looked over at me and said "you nailed your makeup today".  So naturally my mind instantly goes to "does that mean I normally DON'T nail it?" Smiley Surprised  But I managed to control what I wanted to ask and just said, "Thank you!" LOL

Haven't done one of these in a while and it was DH approved so here's what I had on my face yesterday.

SO, am I the only one that knew if you haven't worked, you can't get a SS check? LOL Apparently I will draw off my husband.  None of all that gibberish made sense to my MS riddled brain.  I think I would rather not be able to walk but had all my brain cells!  Sheese!  Oh well, I did get signed up for Medicare.  I made the day of the SS worker that we dealt with tho. I can't tell if it was a good thing or a "bless her heart" type of thing Smiley Surprised  Dad's words are ringing clearer and clearer with each passing old age year.  Life Hard.

@monicakm My SO doesn't even realize I wear makeup. Apparently, he thinks I look the way I do naturally. I don't know what he thinks I'm doing while I keep him waiting lol (I spend much more time on skin care). I don't wear much eye makeup.

At first glance I thought this said Overcoming your fear of NO makeup!😄

And that would be a issue for me if that happened. I'm someone who would never

pack makeup away for a trip. Nope, it's staying' real close.

Is that all the makeup you wear?  I'm almost 65 and have never worked.  It seems like you could put forth just a tad bit more effort for a more elevated look.  I enjoy putting on makeup and smelling divine, maybe that's not your thing.  That's fine 😊

@monicakm Put forth more effort?  To me, a full face of makeup was and is:

A little foundation/concealer whatever is needed

Eyebrow Pencil

Nice soft color on eyelids pink/beige

Back in the day a very thin eyeliner, top only

Mascara

MAYBE blush, maybe not.

Maybe soft lipstick or gloss, maybe not.

Anything else would have been not my style, and not acceptable for my line of work.  It isn't about effort put forth, it is about how someone sees themselves, and what is appropriate for work, if you work.

Re: "Overcoming Your Fear of Makeup; Part 1"

um, yeah. About the putting forth more effort comment. Well sure, when I was much younger I put forth a lot of effort on my makeup. As I aged, I'm 72, and that season of life had passed, I began to prioritize other things besides my makeup. My look is minimal:

*Bare Minerals loose foundation on days I choose to wear foundation

*Concealer in dark corners of eyes

*Eyebrow enhancement as my brows are sparse and thin now

*Mascara

*Blush

Usually a light rosy lip balm if I'm leaving the house

it no longer seems important to "elevate my look". I am reasonably content with my appearance and don't care whether others find it satisfactory. Just as I am not concerned about how other women look. Not my business. A ton of makeup or none, everyone does what pleases them.
I have developed enough significant medical problems lately that my focus has shifted to health concerns. Yeah I still like to be presentable, and my little makeup routine serves that purpose.

Re: "Overcoming Your Fear of Makeup; Part 1"

@monicakm  Don't forget to sign up for the supplemental insurance that covers what Medicare doesn't & also the Medigap too.

I do many products when I wear makeup out to a special occasion too.

Eyeliner, mascara & eye shadow. Maybe some eyebrow pencil filler.

Then I apply foundation, blush, maybe highlighter & finally lipstick.

One thing I do -- I apply a thin line of eye liner at the lash lines. A thick line looks too severe for us older folks. The photo that someone posted -- too much mascara on the lashes & the blush is too dark & was applied below the cheekbones.
