Re: "Critique" of Anonymous Makeup Pic

You look serene in that lovely photo, @Icegoddess.  The hair doesn't strike me as BIG hair for that time period.

@tansy Thanks.  Maybe not, but I always hear big hair associated with the 80's, not 90's.   I'm still a bit of a big hair kinda gal, but I no longer do the hot rollers.

I like a more natural look than painted.

The model is beautiful, and the look would be best for a dance.  I'd like to see her in a toned down makeup for daily wear.

I'm reading "back then, "used to" and high school". Maybe that is my point. It's like trendy clothing or hairstyles, if you've been through that era once, when it comes back around it probably isn't an appropriate look now.

That's a beautiful, pensive photo @Icegoddess .

And who decides what is appropriate for others?

Come to think of it you are definitely right. Who does decide what is appropriate anymore @paixmcdao ? In the end all of it is subjective.Woman Happy

If this look was one the model chose for herself, she needs no one's input unless she asked for it.  This look looks a bit dated to me but I think it's very pretty.  No doubt in my mind @Shanus is very good at what she does.  But I'm sure she has a preference and a style.  That doesn't mean this look is wrong, it's different but not wrong.  I can see older women not being a fan but so what.  It's makeup.  It washes off.  It's personal.  I don't like no makeup makeup looks.  It's like why the h*ll bother Smiley Surprised  I have on a no makeup makeup look every. single. morning. before I even get out of bed. Does anyone know, if this is an advertisement, what it's advertising?

@monicakm   It's just not my preference, but  what clients expect from ME.

When I do brides, I want them to look good, but also look like themselves when they see photos decades from now. That means enhancing their every day makeup...brightening it a bit and enhancing their features, but still looking natural coming down the aisle.

I'm fairly sure, if I sent a bride out looking like that, there would be gasps among the guests not to mention the groom....unless she always wore that look. In that case, I would not have been her MUA.

I know you like colorful makeup, so you do you.

Why would a bride want a plain no-makeup look on her wedding day?   I doubt anyone would be gasping because someone didn't like the bride's makeup.

@San Antonio Gal, good question. Especially, if they bothered to hire a "makeup artist" to apply it. Hmm.....

Re: "Critique" of Anonymous Makeup Pic

I work in DC and I see (and work with) many women with more elaborate makeup all the time. Additionally, many women here wear false eyelashes or more commonly here - eyelash extensions.
