I made sure I read the entire email they sent about the new shipping policies and I knew it wasn't going to be a good deal for the customer.
The only way I will order now is if I'm absolutely certain it's an item I won't be returning OR that I cannot buy anywhere else - and those things are few and far between.
The new "no refund of original S&H" starts on February 17th, so anything you're dubious about, order now!
I agree with some others that it's an attempt by QVC to stop people ordering multiples of an item, with the idea of keeping the "color" or "size" they like or even just ordering to "think about it". I can't blame QVC for that; it gets expensive no matter which retailer it is. But I never did that.
This will certainly curtail my shopping with QVC.

So, they change the shipping to $3 but they don't refund it when I send it back. Now it still costs me more than double than that to send it back.
OK, so let's think about this. They are no longer going to discount for ordering the same product at the same time, different colors.
Let's add to that some of their things cost as much as $12 or more dollars to get to me. If I have to send it back it will cost more than $12 because the Post Office doesn't cut me a deal like they do QVC.
I lose, lose, lose..........no matter how you figure it I lose money when dealing with QVC.
You are absolutely right. Shipping costs are a terrible problem. I sell on eBay and as a small seller I can't afford to offer free shipping and keep my prices low enough to have the interest I need on my sales. It's a double edged sword. Too many eBay sellers jack up the price of their stuff in order to cover the cost of shipping and their stuffs languishes. While we get a small discount for printing shipping labels, it's rarely more than 10%. I will offer discount shipping because the shipping prices are through the roof, AND the customer wants their item ASAP... and they don't care how you do it and if you don't... you get dinged (as though we have control over the post office or fedex).
So, I always thought $6.95 (on average) to return something to the Q was reasonable, especially the big, heavy, bulky stuff. The small, light items, no, unless there is insurance involved. Insurance can add a lot to the shipping costs (as much as an additional $10)....
But QVC is a huge corporation and as such gets incredible bulk discounts. They are trying to find a way to soothe the shopper (keep shopping) and yet not cut into their shipping profits, which ARE factored into their bottom line.

I never think QVC thinks their customers are stupid, but if they are this country is really in bigger trouble than I sometimes think when I see the news.
QVC's revenue in 2014 was in the billions. Big billions. Apparently some people think everyone who buys from QVC is stupid, and that means we have a lot of dumb consumers.

When buying multiples you have to take into consideration that the shipping was probably at least $6.95 before so for 2 it would have been $10.41 with the half price shipping and now 2 of the same item would be only $6.00 for 2 so definitely a savings on what it would have been before. So you really are getting a better price buying multiples on most items than you were getting with the half price shipping on multiples.

Many items like shoes and a lot of designer clothing, handnbags, for instance are MORE for S&H. When they charge $6.95, you will pay approx. $l4. for two. If you return, you will pay $28. to return.

In the new shipping policy, it's pretty much good for me. I rarely order two of anything, order very little that I return, etc.
What almost never works for me are the companies that offer "free" if I spend $50 - I haven't shopped at Sephora for more than a decade because of that policy.
Still, I know people love it and still shop there. That's what I think will happen with QVC. There will all this talk for a while and some people will go elsewhere, but they might have been going anyway and some of us like me will continue to buy once in a while because there are still items QVC sells I can't get elsewhere or, contrary to Forum belief, can't buy elsewhere for less money for exactly what I want.
And if that doesn't happen, well, then, like other big companies that have disappeared, so will QVC.
? on the first part...

I think for clothing and shoes...I'm only going to order online, if there is a local store I can make returns to, if the items don't fit. For me, that would be Macy's, Kohl's, Chico's, etc.
There isn't this option with QVC, and I'll take that into account when I see something on their website that appeals to me. Their sizing is so off.....if I have to lose money to just "try things on"....I just won't take the chance.

Not surprising that they decided to change the shipping policy, but at the same time not really change it all that much.
They should take a cue from HSN, they offer free shipping for beauty events, etc. all the time. Plus this new policy with the shipping not being refunded on returns is not motivating me to make a purchase any time soon. The only things that I ever buy are Josie Maran TSVs or other specials they offer since I love her products. Everything else I can buy somewhere else with FREE shipping and handling and FREE returns! Hello Zappos, Nordstrom and Sephora!

I'm sure somebody worked the numbers carefully, factored in the number of returns, and thought of a way to make the company MORE money with this new policy, not less. Personally I feel like an idiot for ordering the Sketchers TSV in several colors. If they don't fit, I'll be paying big bucks to return all of them. I didn't know about the new return policy in time to cancel. Gee, thanks, QVC, another way to stick it to your customers. You can bet I'll be visiting the mall more often in the future.
They will be refunding original shipping on return orders up until Feb 17th, so if you have to return any of the Sketchers you ordered, you will still be refunded your shipping.
