Has anyone else had their facial redness fade after they started wearing sunscreen everyday, even if they are staying inside?
I'm actually surprised because I never really thought it was associated with the sun., and maybe it isn't? I've had facial redness on my cheeks and nose for many years. I don't spend much time in the sun, although I did in the past when we lived in homes with pools. At that time I ended up with lots of freckles and tanning even with regular sunscreen use. But that was over 6 years ago.

Perhaps the type of sunscreen you are using has calming ingredients in it that help calm redness? Which sunscreen are you using?

I'm using the Josie Maran SPF 47 moisturizer. The non tinted one. I've been using it every single day for over a month now. Before that I only used it when I knew I'd be outside in the sun. Now I'm using it even if I'm just staying in the house all day. Admittedly I've gotten more regular at using the argan oil every night on my face too. Before that I switched off between the oil and other facial moisturizers including her unscented body butter. I don't think it could be the argan oil on it's own as I've used that for a few years now.

well, that one does contain some anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant ingredients and if you are wearing it more consistently, it could be why your redness has lessened/subsided. This might suggest your redness could be due to irritation (maybe from other products you are using?).

My skin is pretty sensitive. But I really don't use much of anything on my face. I only wear foundation once in a while. For cleansing I often only use water and the two sided Josie Maran cleaning cloth. That's nothing new though, been doing that for over a year. I sometimes use her oil cleanser if I feel I need it. For makeup removal I use Clinique take the day off balm but only if I wore foundation that day.
My foundation is Urban Decay Naked Skin but I started playing around with Bare Minerals loose mineral foundation again lately. But neither product is new for my skin.
Whatever it is, I'm glad it's getting better.

Oh gosh, yes - and I wish I had started using SPF religiously years ago! My rosacea looks so much better since I made the commitment to daily SPF. I rarely have flare-ups, and since my redness is so well-managed now, it can easily be covered with a good foundation.
However, I only get these good results when using a physical-only SPF. Chemical SPFs can cause flare-ups. OP, I'm so glad that you have found a product that makes you feel better about your skin!

Thanks for posting, I try and avoid chemical sunscreen but you've given me a reason to be sure I'm not using them, I didn't know they could cause a flare up. I do get bumps and redness and itching from certain facial products like purity made simple. But my cheek redness was something that was long term and I never determined the cause.

Do you know if your redness is rosacea? Have you been diagnosed?
