Can y'all recommend an eye shadow primer? I've tried drugstore brands 😕 I've tried Tarte, Smashbox ( white tube). I'm spinning my wheels and nothing works. I have everything in the crease including any color corrector used after primer. I use a q tip to swipe off the gunk in my crease before eyeshadow. 😒😒
Nothing stops the creasing and my eyeshadow looks like nothing after a couple hours.
Not to mention the tiny lines at the crease of my inner eye that everything will sit in. Out comes the q tip again. Then the tiny lines on my inner eyelids at the bridge of my nose gathers product and I have to gently swipe the back of my pinkie fingernail to smooth that out because dabbing with anything removes color. I used to love putting on eye makeup because I was always told I had beautiful eyes. Now...not at all. Now I just try to correct the discoloration on the crease, eyelid and under eye to look fresh. It's a bummer.

I admire women over 50 who can create looks with eye makeup. Because I can't. It's a waste of time without the right product, or at least that's been my experience.

I thought about trying the Mac eyeshadow primer in the pot but I've read I think if I'm not mistaken, that it's been discontinued.@monicakm, I specifically write to you because you do great things with eye makeup.
Thank you in advance for responding. Have a lovely weekend 🤗

I like one from ELF that comes in a stick. I use it when using powder shadows but when I use Mally shadow sticks no primer is needed, lasts all day.

Hi shebelle
I've tried that elf primer a couple times. It doesn't work for me. I think I must have oily eyelids. I only apply moisturizer at the brow line and lightly dab a Kleenex across my lids and crease before any primer/ shadow application. It doesn't do anything for me. I'm really at the end of my rope with eye color. I never dreamed makeup could be difficult at my age but it is (55)

@Midmod  - Know you said you tried drugstore primers but was wondering if you've tried the Milani eyeshadow primer?  I have the oilest lids but this one works for me - I do lightly powder my lids with a translucent powder before putting on my eyeshadow.  You can also use an eyeshadow that is close to your skin tone or very light if you don't have powder.  I can't go without a primer, eyeshadows wouldn't stay on me at all so I understand the frustration.  Hope you can find something that works for you.

Well, I am 71 and it doesnt get any easier, trust me on that Try one of the Mally shadow sticks, plenty of them in singles on ebay, they really are as she says, bullet proof, I dont need anything under them to stay put.  Try a mattifying primer or gel under them if needed.

I think I would try skipping the moisturizer under the brows, they may tend to migrate down onto your lids. Save the moisturizing for bedtime.

Hi @JudyL
That's the one I've been using. I believe I bought it because you suggested it. It works for a little while and then everything fades as well. But it doesn't make my eyeshadow vibrant.

Hi @ Shelbelle
I hadn't thought of skipping the moisturizer. The only reason I use it is because I thought that maybe it would help with the tiny lines at the inner corner of my eyelid. I believe I've seen them referred to as cross hatching lines. I thought that the moisturizer would help soften those but it really doesn't. So I have cut back on the moisturizer only under my eyebrows at my brow bone. But I guess I could stop all together because nothing seems to help with the softening the lines in the a.m. I do use a good moisturizer and peptide eye serum at night.

Yes, use at night only, creams and serums tend to migrate, cant hurt to try. And you are correct to say that nothing seems to help with a lot of things we all get sucked into trying !!!
