has this ever happened to you with hair coloring from the store?

I wanted to refresh my hair color, so in the past I always use a medium golden brown. I tried l'oreal medium golden brown in the mousse which I have never tried before. My hair is not a golden brown but a reddish brown. I went to look again at the box and it did say golden brown. I don't think I will ever use the moose again my hair is sort of dry now and it was not dry before I put the product in my hair.
