for those who use Soolantra for Rosacea

I started using this cream a few months ago. I've googled and looked at several sites and there a very minimal side effects listed for Soolantra.

I have noticed something lately though and I don't know if there's a connection to the Soolantra or not and wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this.

When I use Soolantra for several days (not just a one or two day deal) I'm very fatigued after several days. Like I've used it for about 6 days now to try to control a new breakout. I'm using a tiny amount of it. Tiny. I woke up this morning and I'm exhausted. Very fatigued.

This happened before and I stopped using it and the fatigue went away. Coincidence or connection? I don't know. Fatigue isn't listed as a side effect on any site I've been to.

I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so living with fatigue is a way of life for me but this feels different, like out of the blue fatigue. I'm going to stop the Soolantra again and see if the fatigue goes away again. If it does I'll do one more try and if it happens again I'm done with it.

Anyone else had this problem?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I'm the only one using Soolantra?

Re: for those who use Soolantra for Rosacea

I have rosacea but have never used Soolantra.  I use Retin A and sometimes have to use oral antibiotics for flare ups.   I hope it is just your chronic fatigue that is causing your fatigue and not the medicine.

Re: for those who use Soolantra for Rosacea

I've had mild rosacea for over 30 years and never heard of Soolantra. I only use doxycycline now if I have a flare up. I discovered that regular milk was causing my flare ups so I switched to almond milk and am very pleased with the results.

Soolantra is pretty new and is supposed to have minimal side effects. Some slight burning and that's about it. I'm going to not use it the next several days and see if the fatigue is better and then try it one more go round and see if it happens again.

Re: for those who use Soolantra for Rosacea

Hi Gidget--

There's another thread on the BBs right now, started by AngelPuppy, where there has been some discussion of Soolantra. I was keeping up on that thread and decided to go ahead and fill the script for Soolantra that I've had now for a few months. Well, I tried it for a short period of time (5 days). The first morning after use I had noticeably less redness. But after that initial use, the Soolantra seemed to make my Rosacea WORSE. I thought maybe it was just in my head, but nope, my redness, in one particular area was worse. I will have to do my research on this and see if I dan find any other users experiences. I have not experienced any fatigue, however. But I'm curious to see what others say there. Thank you for starting this thread. I'm sorry you're dealing with this!

LoriKaye-Do you mind me asking if you take the antibiotics daily or ONLY
when you have a flare? My Derm suggested Oracea (I think?) and I'm reluctant to rake it on a daily basis.

This probaly sounds extremely negative, fyi , I have CFS too, I do not trust many drugs as they all seem to have side effects and you are the guinnea pig. Especially with CFS, your whole body is already compromised immunity wise so the less you have to run through the bod, the better off you are IMHO.

gidget:  How are you doing?  I just spotted your topic.  Which on this place is not an easy thing any more.

When I was doing some research all along the way in preparation for my recent derm. visit I saw a lot of negative comments about this medicine.   People were saying that it was causing more redness to their skin.  And some were saying that when they they were using it, it seemed to help, but if they stopped, they seemed to get even redder than they were before.  I don't know because with everything, people have good and bad results.  I did not come across anything about tiredness.

Maybe you should contact your doctor as perhaps this is not a good medicine for you.  I hope you start feeling better soon.  Please take care and let us know how you are doing.

Where have you looked?  I have googled Soolantra several times and haven't found anything other than the standard drug info stuff.

Anyway- it's really done a great job with my Rosacea, which, at least so far, is just on a small area of my face.  I use a miniscule amount of the Soolantra.  Pin head size or smaller.

I haven't had any problems with worsening redness from it.  It, combined with the Basis soap, has been working really well.

But, I'm going to back off on the Soolantra again, see if I feel better over the next several days.  Then try it one more time.  If the fatigue comes back, I'll go back to my dermatologist.  So frustrating, but I don't want to use something that helps one area but makes something else worse.
