That's certainly true when I go to local professionals - some just turn me out better than others do.

I suspect that's true for QVC, etc., too. The crew that readies the hosts for a décor show isn't the same crew readying them for a Chavez show. IMO

A few of them claim to have the Calista Tools woman, Maria do their hair and personally, the result doesn't look that great to me (Shawn, for example).

LR was the only host I ever heard say that she's a WEN girl in her real life. I think Chaz probably could choose the hosts he works with but much as I love Nick, he wouldn't and couldn't do that. He's just not in Chaz's league. He doesn't generate WEN type sales. Many Qvc vendors take subtle swipes at other vendors, that's no big deal. Also, the vast majority of hairdessers agree with Nick.

Nick and Chaz are equally successful and have different approaches; both have loyal clients. Chaz Dean gets more exposure because he has a wide variety of products and seems to be constantly adding new ones plus lines for children and pets. I don't think Nick Chavez would refuse working with anyone; IMO, he just has fewer products and is not given the same exposure or prime air time. I don't use products from either but prefer the upbeat personality of Nick Chavez rather than Chaz Dean.

The only competition is in the mind of NC's poster friend who has a personal agenda.

I used to watch NC's shows, but he has become so frantic and so hostile to other products that now I turn him off. Sad to see.

I was under the impression, from the comments hosts have made when presenting beauty products, that they use all of the products or at least most of the products. I have heard most, if not all, hosts mention how they use certain make-up, haircare and other beauty products on a regular basis. I think QVC probably pairs the host users with the appropriate guest and their products. I guess there could be crossover where a host may use some products from a couple of guests. I know, Jacqui for one always raves about Mally products while Carolyn seems to prefer Laura Geller. Who knows...either way, guests should be more sensitive to other guests who may not make products exactly like theirs and bash products.
