defunct gallon pump :-(

I ordered both SAM and TT gallons back in June, but had not opened the SAM because I had, at the time, 2 32 ouncers on hand. Well, now I'm down to the last quarter of the second SAM bottle, and wanted to use the gallon to refill it. Got the pump out of it's little bubble wrap package, put the extender part on the bottom of the pump, loosened the top so it popped up, and inserted it into the gallon. Gave it a couple pumps to "prime" it, and felt air blowing out the end of the nozzle. ???? Pumped several more times, lots of air, NO WEN. Panic! Long story short, this pump will not draw up and dispense my SAM. Has anyone else had this happen, and is there a simple fix my tired old brain has not figured out? Help, please, I need my SAM in the rotation.
