dark upper lip! Advice please?

I just started noticing that my upper lip has an awful dark shadow! I have no hair on my upper lip. It's actually a discoloration of the skin. I started using Retin A and the Lightstim about 6 weeks ago. Do you think one of these could have caused this? Concealer doesn't even cover it up. I have read about the skin lighteners here on this board and thought maybe that might help?

This is so much worse than any wrinkles!
