anyone use John Freida Foam Coloring?

I was at Ulta today and they had Freida Precison Foam on clearance. 3.25 a box! The only colors that were on sale is what "looks like the color I tint my hair. It is 5RV (red violet) a "medium Burgundy". I usually tint my own hair, as having been in the business years ago, I have a morbid fear of hairdressers! LOL! I usually use Matrix, Sync Gloss, a semi permanant color.

I usually get my color from the wholesale market, but it is an hour away. My gray roots are screaming at me...I can hardly sleep,LOL!

Anyone who has used this product can I ask,

1) is it true to color shown on box?

2) because it is a foam, is the root application reasonably simple? It seems like foam would be harder to do roots first, and not as accurate?

3) I have gray/white roots in front, and longer burgundy tinted hair. Bought 2 hoxes so I have enough tint!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have used this in the past... Not the same color though. I think it's really easy to use and love the foam, especially over the old style creams. I think the root application is pretty easy,it's just like shampooing in it. I no longer do my own color and gave a box I had to a friend. She loved it, too. I think you'll be happy with it. It's soo much easier than it used to be and the fact that you are a pro, it will be really easy for you!!!

Hi shoekittySmile I have used the John Freida foam. I think the color was little darker, but that is usually the case for me with any color.

I love the foam, very easy to use, however, I felt like it was pretty drying to my hair, so I went back to my Garnier Nutrisse.

Foam is great! I've used that color too! I have a brighter red, 5RR, now, but the burgundy was true for my hair. Have fun with your color! The foam spreads more evenly and doesn't drip like the color.

Did I mention that you should go and buy it all up! At that price point, that would be excellent! I might would even go back to that color for that price!

Re: anyone use John Freida Foam Coloring?

Thanks Justashopper and Bette for taking the time to post. I may try it later today. I am just hoping it isn't too dark. I guess if it is, I will put a red glaze over it.

Tigress, I know 3.25 for a tint? I think the regular price is 12.99. IDK why all the "drugstore" color companies have stopped making the bright reds and real burgundys!!. They are very subdued now IMO. For years I used Hydrience. They had a gorgeous 2RR and 3RR. Hydrience was probably the best line of home color I ever encountered. Clairol quit making most reds for "drugstore". They quit making most of their lines as well, they just offer a few lines now, and mainly blondes and brunettes. I think they put efforts into Nice N Easy,Balsam, and the regular line of Clairol

There is a lot of alcohol in the foam, maybe that is why it is drying. Was it a one time thing, or did you use it a few times?

With Hollywood going all blonde, red just isn't as popular right now with the masses. I love my red and pray Vidal Sassoon keeps making it!

I think I used it 3 times. I loved the foam application so much, I wanted it to work out.{#emotions_dlg.blush}
