I know the temptation is to try new products to zap the zits, but in my experience that only makes things worse. It sounds like you had a reaction to the Skinn products and not just a clogged pores breakout.

When that happens to me, the best thing for he to do is very little. I use just a very gentle cleanser and a gentle moisturizer. No treatments and no actives. Do you have some gentle products on hand that are soothing?

I can't tell if people are posting to me or bunk (sorry bunk, this is your thread).

Anyway, I was given an RX for doxycycline before I was discharged, just in case it was MRSA, which was my main concern in addition to an allergic reaction.

Okay, now let's help bunk who is dealing with this right now.

Oh dear, I'm very sorry, I confused Bunk's post with Desi's. I post from my phone and its a bit hard to see. Bunk, how long has it been since you broke out? Is the break out actual pimples or something else?

Thanks for all your responses. Took the advice to use very gentle product, just mild dove soap and no moisturizers and it seems to be calming down. Not to be gross but some of the bumps are coming to a head, like the "juicy" pimples kids get. Oh well, so much for looking for the next best product. I don't know what's worse - pimples or wrinkles!!!

Bunk, glad to hear your skin is beginning to settle down. Hopefully with continued gentle treatment it will get back to normal.

You caught staph from Skinn products? If that's a possibility, you should contact Skinn directly -- or have your attorney contact them. I had a staph infection once -- a bad one, we couldn't figure out where it came from -- and they were concerned about MRSA and gave me some killer antibiotic. The antibiotic is what sent me to the hospital! It's awful and it's scary and I'm so sorry you went through that, but so glad you're better now.

Maren, I probably should talk to Skinn, although people say they are impossible to reach.

It's possible that the abrasiveness of the scrub drove the normal bacteria on the surface into layers where it didn't belong. I don't know, but what bunk is describing is what happened to me, right down to pus-forming. Except my lip swelled a little too, and the pimples were itchy and tingly which isn't normal in my book.

Thanks for the sympathy, I appreciate it. They both really should know. Skinn and ShopHQ have now lost me as a customer, and I had been consistently and happily using his crease-release moisturizers before all this. Not touching anything Skinn now!

I would recommed trying Serious Skin Care Emu and aloe cream....this cream is the best and it will sooth your skin on contact. I love it! they just brought it back to HSN...

There is a cleanser at the drugstore (I got mine at CVS but I think they also have it at Walgreens) called Panoxyl. It comes in a 4% benzoyl peroxide cream cleanser, a 10% bp cream cleanser and a 10% bp bar cleanser. I bought the 4% wash and it is fantastic. It cleared up a breakout on my cheek in a day and a half. I just discovered this and I am loving it.

IMO this is NOT for people with dry skin. If you buy this you should have oily skin, as it is drying. That is how it clears up your skin, it dries up the acne. It is fabulous though. This may replace Proactiv for me, although I am still using the Proactiv toner and clearing lotion.

If you have severe acne and oily skin, you could try the 10% formulation but I think that would be too strong for me, and my acne is only periodic and mild (hormonal usually monthly).

As a comparison, Proactiv cleanser is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide.
