The young nurse that was caring for my mother tonight was absolutely stunning! She had mascara on and a minimal neutral eyeshadow but what caught my eye was the beautiful highlighter on her cheeks. I asked her what highlighter she was wearing?  She said "well I took my kids to the beach this weekend and got some sun and I tan easily". I don't think she knew what I was talking about LOL She didn't have any highlighter on, it was just natural glowing youthfulness.

Yes, isn't that just amazing?  I took my young, healthy skin for granted. Covered it in makeup.  The heavy makeup trend with the young people has been in style for a long time now and I keep thinking --- no, no --- reveal your lovely skin and enjoy it now while you have it!!!!

I was in a meeting the other day with a coworker who was born the year I graduated from college. I kept thinking she was wearing the loveliest radiant foundation. Nope, she’s 26 and in love.

@monicakm I am most content when I compare myself to my recent self instead of to women quite obviously younger than my upcoming birthday - 82.   I try to put my efforts into doing the best I can with who I am --  and walk away from the mirrors!

It's taken me some years to accept my reality.

@monicakm   We all were fortunate enough to have that glow decades ago.

I too look around the room at work during a team meeting and just find myself staring at the young professionals with just a hint of makeup, looking so fresh and beautiful.  Then I pan to some of the women my age, in their 60's and they are made up so heavy, just trying to capture it back and it looks awful.  From glowing eyeshadows to a glittery neck and I just think, boy they've got some lying mirrors at home.

Sometimes when I sit out on my porch, I will take a picture of myself in that light.  While I wear very little makeup...jeeze I sure DO NOT look as good as I do in my bathroom mirror 😫.  I have one of those "lying mirrors."   Then I make a note to correct that color blush!

I'm pretty sure I've never seen a naked complexion this flawless and the shade, I couldn't stop looking at her.  This girl needed no makeup.

Lying mirrors...mirrors don't lie, do they?  Note to self:  Don't look at yourself out in the cruel, harsh light of day!

BTW, if you choose the golden hours of the sun just coming up or going down, you'll be much more pleased with yourself Smiley Happy   Bright overhead light (indoor or out) cast shadows that accentuate every single flaw/line.  It really is "all about the lighting" whether you're building houses of putting on makeup.
