Ladies, I need your help. Like so many people I have very bad hyper pigmentation and feel like I've tried every serum, retinol, on the market. I am currently using Strivectins morning and night retinols with some luck. Any suggestions and success with a serum without retinol that's good for this problem? I have combination skin so have to be careful of the super hydrating anti aging. I appreciate your suggestions!

Have you ever looked into Skinmedica Lytera? It is a consistency between a serum and a lotion. I use it and have since improvement with this and a series of laser treatments.

I have hyperpigmentation and find that vitamin c does a lot for brightening my skin and helping minimize the appearance of my brown spots. I am using ASDM Beverly Hills 15% Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate serum. It is $30 for a 2 oz pump bottle and they have free shipping. They have a L-Ascorbic acid vitamin c serum if your skin can tolerate it. My skin can't handle this form of vitamin c. I am also using their lightening cream and microdermabrasion cream and am seeing a huge difference in my brown spots. I had one area of light discoloration on my forehead that is gone after only two weeks. You can check the products out at asdmbeverlyhills.com. Good luck with whatever you try:-)

I have brown spots on sides of face - have tried many, many products from high end, Rx, to drug store - none seemed to really work, maybe faded some. I started using

ROC 5 in 1 serum - in the blue pump bottle ($20 drugstore) - and to my shock - the spots have faded significantly! The product claims to even tone - and it does!

Try it - it works great on many skin issues. Has great reviews on many web sites.

Have you thought about Retin-A instead of a retinol product?

Make sure you are using a vitamin c product during the day (in addition to sunscreen, which I guess is obvious). I've had really good results getting rid of freckles using Paula's Choice vitamin c, or another one I had success with is SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. At night, I've had success with my war on freckles using the SkinMedica 1% Retinol. I haven't tried the SkinMedica lytera which is supposed to be very good for lightening.

I have heard that Green cream 9 (a retinol) is very good but have not tried it.

You might want to try a product with hydroquinone in it. Clinique, Peter Thomas Roth and Paula's choice have products with this ingredient. Not sure but I think Lancome and Estee Lauder do too. It is also available by prescription
