@Grouchomarx   Ah, to be 49 again.  I start with Keratoplast cleanser and follow with Keratoplast toner.  Then i use either Aloe SPF or A.H.A. Ceramide moisturizer. All products are Mario Badescu and reasonably priced.  the Ceramide is suppose to rejuvenate your own Ceramide.  It will not clog pores and give a boost to a radiant complexion. 2 oz. for $20.

The most anti-aging thing I do for my skin is use sunscreen. Retin-A is a long-term and very effective anti-aging drug which I have used for almost a decade. It takes care of most all signs of aging (wrinkles, dark spots, large pores, loss of firmness). I'm 65 and I wish I would have started using RA sooner. And finally, I always do some kind of exfoliation either a physical or chemical one....just get the dead skin off.

Two other things I do is use home lasers and microneedles. I also go to my derm about every couple of years and have my skin treated with a laser to remove red dots on my face. Those are caused from a medical condition I have. The laser treatments make my skin smooth and clear.

@SilleeMee   I echo your post, as usual. Retin A and SPF are the top proven anti-agers recommended by dermatologists. I'll add don't fall for the hype of expensive skincare that promises lifting/firming & other impossible results found in a jar. What you will find in skincare that helps is hydration in a good moisturizer, fading of dark spots, reduced pore size and further protection/repair of sun damage using a good Vit. C serum in the mornings.

Most skincare specialists say to follow these steps:

CLEANSE (double cleanse removes sunscreens)

EXFOLIATE/TREAT (acids, Retin A, Vit. C, etc.)

HYDRATE (moisturizer, eye cream and neck cream)

PROTECT (SPF over 40 or higher and hat if outside)

@Katcat1   Since you've started using Badescu, had success and glowing reviews, I've looked into it for clients with more sentisitive skin. They've had good results, too. It had a short & sweet intro on Q by Martha, but thanks for bringing this line to our attention.

I am also always shocked how few wear gloves, for the sun, when they drive.

Over the years I have also been modeled the use of those dorky sun hats with big brims and back neck flaps.  They do work.

Yes, stay out of the sun but let's face it, that's really not realistic for most people and the amt of spf you'd have to use for it to really be helpful is again, not realistic.  As far as women and sun 100 years ago, I'd have to say they were in the sun a lot more than today.  Washing clothes, tending to gardens and farm animals and other normal daily activities that modern day appliances and products make more convenient and do indoors.

Stay hydrated and moisturized (not the same thing).  Don't smoke!

It absolutely is realistic to stay out of the sun, my husband and I had a boat for years and years and I was never on it without a long sleeve shirt and a big hat. I never spent time sunbathing at the beach trying every summer to get a deep tan. I didn't care if I was the only white person at the beach. We always went out after 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

If a tan from the sun is what you want then you are going to pay for it in the future with skin that is prematurely aged. I am so glad 30 years ago I made that decision and it has truly paid off.

AngelPuppy1 - Thank you for such wonderful words.  I think all women wonder at times what other women do to keep themselves up.  Your words make a lot of sense.  I'm going through tough times with my skin, body, etc, and some days I just feel ugly and old.  I've tried to encourage myself, figure it all out, and reassure myself that doing the things you suggest  will be meaningful and try not to be so hard on myself.  I've heard it said, "When you can't do what you do, just do what you can."  I also love to remind myself that "Beauty is as beauty does." Just reading your words helped me feel better.  I think if we don't love ourselves and take good care of ourselves, it can be hard for us to give love to other people and take care of other people...  Thank you!

Re: Your best regimen.

@Shanus   You are welcome.  I started this line for two reasons.  Mario is from Europe and Europe is ahead of us in using essential oils for health and beauty reasons.  Second, Heidi Klum swears by his Buttermilk moisturizer because she would never break out using it.  As a model I know that would be important to her.  You have to read the reviews and description of the product because he does offer a wide range of products.  His prices are extremely reasonable.  You can also receive product suggestions by taking the questionnaire online on his website.  His website offers specials frequently and Nordstrom sells his products so does ULTA and Sephora.

@Katcat1   So far women that have tried the skincare, like it. The Heidi Klum thing? That may be a lot like Oprah and Oz. Unless I have documented proof she's using it, it just may be a paid endorsement or completely false. That's not important. If it's working for you and you love it....great!!!

@Shanus   Heidi recently talked about the moisturizer and has been using for years.  She may be getting paid now but I really don't know.  I believe I tried something from Mario when Martha endorsed it and did not like the product.  Vaguely remember but I decided to give it a try and let me tell you, my medicine cabinet is so pretty with the clean, colored bottles.  LOL
