You Tube Make-Up Tuts/Eyeshadow Application

So after watching dozens of hours of eye shadow application videos (over years time), trying to become as skilled as they are with their applications, I've decided I'M JUST NOT GONNA EVER BE (that skilled/good)!  Do you apply layers and layers and layers of shadow spending an enormous amt of time blending blending blending?  I usually wear 3 shades and use my ring fingers to apply.  I pat and gently blend.  I don't own 38 different brushes.  In fact, the only brush I use it to apply a lighter shade under the brow and in the corner.  I feel like a weight has been lifted LOL

I use Mac's Blanc Type on my lids(a matte warm beige) and Corduroy as an eyeliner on my upper lid. A light coat of mascara and I'm done. Pretty low maintenance, LOL.

I know it varies by region but I work in a professional office and from 25-55, it's mu with a light touch.

Oh, there is my co worker who is perfecting her smokey eye day look. She does stand out.

Re: You Tube Make-Up Tuts/Eyeshadow Application

I don't think I'll ever be as skilled as many of the YouTubers either.  I'm not someone who can draw or paint very well, and makeup artists are artists.  So what they do is not going to be realistic for me, I don't think.

But I do like to see new techniques and try them.  Whether I can do them or whether or not they work for me is another matter.

On days when I don't feel like trying a new look, I can always use a nice light pink shadow or taupe shadow by itself, and that looks nice.

Re: You Tube Make-Up Tuts/Eyeshadow Application

I have watched some of those demos, and I get so frustrated!  They say --- easy this and easy that!  Most of the time --- it is NOT easy --- at all!

Back in the day when I was young I felt like I did a nice job with my eye makeup.  But back then I had a steady hand and much better eyesight! That helps a lot!

Plus, I do not have the patience or desire to spend an inordinate amount of time applying, removing, then re-applying when things do not look right or go according to plan.

I would love to have my perfect "go-to" look for my eyes.  A nice, casual every day, easy look that really made the most of my eyes.  And another look -- a bit more dramatic - but still easy!

I never go through all of that, carefully choosing eye shadows!

When I wear shadow, I like to keep it as simple and as skin tone as possible. Often I will just accent the eye socket w/ a hint of blush. Or, lately, I've rediscovered Laura Geller's Sandbar (4 shades, but I sweep my brush over all of them). Just love this one!

(Where is it, Laura?!)

Sandbar is like Sunset Horizon, only the shades are much lighter. Laura-Geller-Baked-Eye-Dreams-Eye-Shadow-Palette.product.A327980.html?sc=SRCH

Like you, I tried for years to perfect the 3-shadow blend, then decided it was waay more makeup that I wanted to deal with, and took too much time to apply.   These days, if I wear a shadow at all, it's just a sweep of taupe eye shadow stick on my lids.

Good luck!
