@Shanus

...that you really don't get an honest review.

Yep, understand.  That's why I don't just go by what a YTer has to say.  I might get interested in a product I see on YT but then start doing my own research.

Does  your tv have voice control?  If so have you tried telling it to skip ahead.  Wait, I'll go see if that works...It does.

We don't have smart tvs.  We voice control our tvs via Google Nests.  I pulled up a YT video on the kitchen tv and said "hey Google, skip ahead 3 minutes".  It did.  Don't know if that would work in your situation or not.  Sitting here in my office, I just told Google to play dog music on the patio speaker (Google Nest).  Both dogs are out in the pasture right now and are listening to dog music and I can see them (and talk to them) via one of the Wyze cams that is pointed in their direction.  I love being a tech geek.  Makeup comes second Smiley Happy

I watch YT on my computer screen (and phone).  Maybe if you had a Ad-Block software on anything in your network it might help.  I don't know.  We started paying for YT before we started watching on tv.  You can also "cast" from your phone to your  tv.  If you have ad blocking software on your phone, you won't see ads on your tv either.  But that might be more effort than it's worth to you.

I do not feel guilty for not watching a complete YT video. It's a medium like anything else, so IMO viewers are not obligated to watch just because it will help the YTuber. Do we feel obligated to watch certain TV shows we dislike to help their ratings?

If a video starts with a 5 minute sponsored ad I skip over that part. Sometimes I decide while watching that the video isn't as interesting or informative as I hoped so I stop watching. I have never left a positive or negative comment, but I have given a thumbs up to a few videos I really liked.

I don't feel obligated.  It's just something I do because I want to help in some small way.  And no, I don't watch a tv show that I'm not interested in.  I hardly watch tv.  I'm too busy watching and supporting YTers (g)

@monicakm we don't have voice control.  If there is a big sponsored section, I do fast forward through it and if I'm not interested in a video anymore, like you I FF to the end so it looks like I've watched it.  Otherwise it will pop up again for me to finish watching if I just cancel out.

Thank you for the help. Smiley Happy

Oh no need to feel mean. Your time is valuable. I have grown weary of YT influencers who get free product/$$ by the companies for whom they promote and then on top of it get $$ because I choose to watch. Shea Whitney's husband just quit his job to devote his time to her YT channel.

I get that these videos can be fun for entertainment purposes, but the way influencers change their HG constantly...well just call me cynical.  I find reading posters comments on this board more meaningful. When someone says "I hated it and immediately threw it in the garbage" I pay attention.😄

@magicmoodz , I do watch her sometimes but again, take everything with a grain of salt from her because sometimes her videos are very contradictory.  But at least she doesn't spend her videos begging for freebies, sponsorsips and to be put on a PR list like the YTber I just unscribed from.

I understand.
I was just using the TV shows as a comparison. Maybe that's like comparing "apples and oranges". I don't watch much TV either. I'm just not going to watch anything that I don't like regardless of the medium.
