Yes, she was beautiful but maybe it's just me, that I saw a certain sadness about her. Especially in the movie The Misfits with Clark Gable.

To my eyes, Monroe was more se xy than beautiful. Pretty face, but it was the sultriness of her face and her incredible curvaceous figure that made her Marilyn.
@Foxxee That photo shows off a very demure-looking Marilyn. Since she has the "Marilyn" platinum blonde hair, we know it was taken after her career really took off, but I wonder what year it's from. No earrings. Another trademark of Marilyn off camera. Perhaps she didn't wear them because her ears were not pierced and there weren't any comfort clips back in the 1950s.

She didn't look that way before she became famous. Hollywood put her through their 'image factory' and gave her that look...cosmetic surgery and all. Before all of that she was an attractive brunette with good teeth.

I thik she was beautiful to start with! Yes, she was enhanced as she became a "star", but nothing compared to what a lot of the woman in the business go through these days. I've always been fascinated by this woman. And she definitely was not dumb, as she was often portrayed.

I'm shocked-they always said she was a natural blonde! I believed it! I think part of her allure was her voice. It was kind of comedic when she used it-always made me laugh. I like the shot in the rowboat-she was really pretty then.

I agree that she was beautiful but yes, she did have that sultry expression when she looked into the camera. Check out her makeup...nothing has changed in decades. That look could be from today. Folks get all charged up about new makeup looks and it's truly just a rewind with different products and colors.

She was like all blonde children when they were born. By purberty they all became brown haired. Adults that continue to stay blonde are not as common. I once had a boss who was a natural blond in her late 40's (when I knew her) She had blonde lashes, eyebrows, all body hair remained blond. All my siblings were born blond (except me) and became brown by the time they hit their teens. No wonder so many people bleach their hair as adults. As a small child, a neighbor had triplets. All white hair. We moved aways so I don't know if they remained platinum blondes.
