Yellow Faces

Why do women wear yellow based makeup when they do not have a yellow in their natural skintone?

Whether surfing the 'net or watching TV, I see more and more yellow faces with pale skin showing elsewhere. The yellow face and pale neck...not a good look.

Granted I also see too pale faces on those with tanned/bronzed skin. But the yellow face seems to be way more prevalent.

I tend to check my makeup in natural light to ensure everything matches and is blended.

But folk on TV have their makeup done by professional artists. I just don't get it. What am I missing?
