Funny - there's a new Ulta coming to Cross County soon. More south than you are, but I'm just amazed to see it at all. It's great to have it within reach - and avoid ordering and bothering my UPS man so much! lol

I like that they also have a salon. I'm curious to try it.

@nygradgirl

Allow me to tell this story.  About four years ago I had a job interview and needed presentable hair.  I went to my nearby Ulta for a basic bob.  My hair is a challenge, but they managed to get me out the door with a cut I was happy with.

The best part?  As I was heading towards the parking lot, a little boy and his mother were approaching.  The boy blurted out, "I like your hair!"

I don't get many compliments on my hair.  I'll never forget that.

Re: Wow First time in Ulta tonight

A couple of times I had to walk out of there and just go to Walgreens because the choices in whatever I wanted were so overwhelming I didn't want to deal with choosing one of whatever it was. One time it was a hair dryer, the other time I forget what. Maybe it sounds strange but I prefer a decent sized but more limited selection or I get too uncertain and confused about which would be best. Old age maybe?

I completely agree!  An Ulta just opened in Chicago a 2 minute walk from my condo.  I have yet to be in it and have no plans to do so.  Walgreens, CVS and Target serve all my beauty needs!

Re: Wow First time in Ulta tonight

Once I got the Ulta membership, I was inundated with daily email and decided to unsubscribe.

They were on the stock market for approx. $400/ share and pay zero dividends.  Most be using all that cash to pay for web and print advertising.

If you were overwhelmed by all the choices, just visit a Bed Bath & Beyond with Harmon beauty aisles.  I never knew that there were so many choices ( way too many  and a waste of resources ) for shampoo and conditioners, etc.

My main frustration with Ulta is the sometimes vague and confusing little signs for sale items.  Too many times I have had the cashier and or manager accompany me to the shelf to explain the wording.

As one poster said, CVS, WalMart, Target satisfy her beauty needs.  QVC, too !

There is a fairly new one in Dobbs Ferry right near the iPic theater we went to and wow, its like CVS, and Sephora had a baby.

I have never seen so much middle and high end cosmetics in on place. I could get easily lost in there

still think they are too expensive for drugstore stuff, and the shelves near me are never fully stocked,

but they have just about everything IT sells,

I had no idea Ulta sold drug store cosmetics.  I've never seen them there at the Ulta i shop at.

@shaggygirl. Oh for sure, I definitely must go with a list or I leave w/ a lot of "beauty candy" I had no intention of purchasing.

Ulta is laid out with presage brands on one side of the store and drugstore brands on the opposite side. Nail products and salon are usually towards the back of the store.

Maybe that's why I never seen them.  I don't purchase drugstore brand cosmetics.  Thanks for the posting.  I guess I never go to that end of the store.

Is it possible you are confusing Ulta and Sephora?  @Blingqueen023
