Re: Why do hairstylists hate Pantene products??!?

I always heard the same thing about Pantene from hairstylists !! So I never used it after they all seemed to be against Pantene. Remember the clear cap that was gold/silver?

Regarding polymers and plastic, The Pantene Age Defy Advanced Thickening Treatment does have several polymers that coat the hair and make it look thicker. I looked into this when it was introduced, they use two different polymers.

Magazines and Beauty Editors like to promote what they get "paid" to promote.

I ws told by my a hair dresser in Australia that Pantene has a lot of silicone in it. She told me to stop using it a week before she colored my hair or it won't take.

I have been using Pantene on my colored treated hair for years and my hairdresser always mentions how great my hair feels and looks.

my stylist has a laundry list of shampoo brands to avoid- Pantene is definitely on that list.

Have you ever heard a hair stylist recommend a product you could buy at the grocery store?? Mine certainly pushed her Pureology conditioner for $27!!

Re: Why do hairstylists hate Pantene products??!?

I'd be interested to know exactly which ingredient(s) are so objectionable. I find it hard to believe Pantene is the only line with the ingredient(s) across the whole product line. Good grief, how many versions of Pantene are available? The same ingredient(s) are not found in many other products? Don't you just love when a beauty professional tells you something but can't pinpoint ingredients? It wouldn't surprise me to find a similar or same ingredient in a line they do rec.

Re: Why do hairstylists hate Pantene products??!?

I love the Pantene age defy products. Great when my hair is feeling a little dry. Any build up in my hair has more to do with my styling products. A little baking soda added to my shampoo once a week fixes that problem. And yes, I color my hair, but this doesn't seem to affect it anymore than anything else I use, including when I was using WEN, which didn't work for me. Like someone pointed out - they aren't growing that Pantene line because no one is using it. Most of us use what works for us.

I don't know about all the things people have mentioned here about Pantene, but I've never liked it anyway. Makes my hair very flat and flyaway. Hated the stuff.

I used the Volumizing Shampoo and Condition in one. Not flat or flyaway. I loved the way my hair looked. I can no longer use sulfates so I had to give it up. Made me sad, but it was causing my scalp break out.

In my entire 54 years, I have never met a hair stylist who approves of drug store or grocery store hair products. They all recommend expensive salon salon products. I likecPantene products but right now I'm using Garnier Fructis products. I'm getting good results, I really like the hair oil.

Obviously, they want you to purchase their products!
