I have notice that when I just shampoo and don't use a conditioner, there is no hair on the shower drain. I skip it when in a rush. When I use a conditioner there is a pile of hair sitting on the drain. I have tried many different ones and this always happens. My hair is thin enough. I don't use Wen. What could be causing this. I am baffled.

Maybe the conditioners are making your hair too soft, thus too fragile. If you don't need conditioner, then don't use it. If you need to detangle your hair, then just use a rinse-out detangler.

I have some hair fall out after shampooing but mega hair falls out when I use conditioner or the conditioner after coloring my hair. I use leave in conditioner most of the time or use conditioner every so often. The lady at Sally Beauty told me I need to use a conditioner. I told her my hair falls out more when I use it. She said it's not from the conditioner. I don't believe that. I am hypothyroid so I imagine that some what has something to do with it. DH sees the hair in the trash & said I need to ask the doctor about it. I had to buy a strainer to put on the drain in the shower. DH got tired of cleaning out all the hair.

Ohhh! I've heard thyroid abnormalities can cause hair loss.

Maybe you should try conditioning just the ends of your hair, the bottom few inches, instead of your entire head, & see what happens.

When you don't use conditioner, do you find hair in your comb, on your shoulders, pillow, etc? It could be that the conditioner is causing your hair to be slippery enough that the hair you would be shedding anyway slides out in the shower, whereas if you don't use conditioner, it gradually falls out during the day. The normal hair loss every day is 50-100 hairs, if you feel you are losing more than that, you need to see a doctor to find out if there's a medical issue.

That's a good idea. My hair is very short and layered and usually I don't get tangles. But I can try doing just the ends. I know it does need conditioner because I do color it, but only every 3 months or so.

Years ago I noticed that when I used a conditioner, my hair was flat and less manageable. Plus my hair felt greasy at the end of the day. I quit using conditioners and my hair had more body and stayed clean longer. I never noticed if there was more or less "fallout."
I still buy cheap conditioner, tho. I use hair conditioner to shave my legs in the shower.
