Re: Why Can't They Make False Lashes Like This?

I didnt realize there was enough room UNDER my upper lash line to apply lashes there.  Oh well.... That's interesting...

But when I do wear false eyelashes, I "underline" my *top* eyelids

The kinds of false eyelashes I use (of which,  I've posted pics of (on this?, or other Q threads) ....  are called "wispies," (or eons ago, were sometimes called "demis").

...   i "underline" my top eyelids (with dark (?brown) eyeliner, so that it hopefully gives the illusion that these false eyelashes are coming out, straight from my own eyelid, lash base.

Now they have eyelash glue IN COLORS... that perhaps are supposed to give that same illusion.  (But I stick with the "white, dry to clear" eyelash glue still)

Sometimes, I do apply a little mascara, to the top false eyelashes, ....  using the mascara brush, to intermingle my own VERY sparse lashes, with the false eyelashes, for a more "natural, intermingled look.   (Not too much mascara on the brush)

.. For "bottom" full eyelash look, the little bit of "mascara goop" that is on the tip end of the mascara brush, ....  I use by barely dabbing the "bottom eyelash 'skin'" ... along the outside end of the lower lash line, (cause there's virtually no eyelashes there, or if they are there, they're playing "hide & seek" with me.... Instead,  I let the mascara quickly try to snag them, briefly brushing over where lower eyelashes wld normally be found...

... I wash the false eyelashes between uses, then dry the false eyelashes by wrapping them over a "paper towel wrapped pencil."  That way they dry, already curled, making them easier to apply the next time..

Sounds like a long involved process, (I would imagine), .....but it goes fast, when one gets it down to an effective system.  It's almost as fast, or faster than actually applying mascara to one's own "my barely visible" eyelashes.

I hope this wordy, long, involved explanation is comprehendable.

Of course, like most makeup applications  & makeup choices.. , it's up to each individual... whatever works for them.

. . . . . . And between all of us:   . VIVE LA DIFFERENCE!!  ("excuse my french!")

Altho I still have to say, the idea of a Dental Hygenist's "thick false eyelashes" towering over my fully, opened mouth, cleaning my teeth, is somewhat EEEERIE seeming!!  heh

...   I think I wouldnt be able to "contain myself" if they gave me "laughing gas" anesthesia first!!  @Kachina624

. . . . . . Altho....... y'know .. maybe I need the laugh!!!

. . . .  (I'm getting plenty SICK of all the insistent bad "TV news!!")

Hope y'all have a GREAT EVENING..

. . . . . and UPCOMING "MEMORIAL DAY!"

Too each their own, right?  And goodness, I don't recall asking anyone if they liked this look or thought it appropriate.  You'd think I'd know better by now tho.  I think this group really enjoys it when they have something they can pounce on when someone has the audacity to share something they don't like.

Oh, you're one of those.  If you don't agree, then don't post comments.  Wow.  I'll remember that.

Most people understand that, on a public message board, all opinions count.   No one starts threads here that doesn't want to know what others think.

"Tell me what you think but only if it's something I want to hear"  ...  or some version of that.

Seriously?

IMO, no reason you can't be objective to all opinions,  if true dialogue is what you actually seek.

JMO, of course.

@monicakm  Try MAC lashes or many of the ones sold via online (gorgeous, well made but not cheap). Also, Ardell used to make some like that but I haven't looked at lashes at Ulta since before Covid.

Smiley Sad

There are many many choices for natural looking lashes.  Here is a very popular option.  I started out with these but decided I wanted something longer.  One of my favorites comes from the Kiss line. They're actually called "So Real" Smiley Surprised

I'll remember that when my eyelids get crepey

@monicakm I occasionally wear a shimmery shadow on my crepey eyelids and love it--and I have a feeling you wouldn't let crepey lids stop you either, lol!

I am careful with shimmer (and there IS a difference between "shimmer", "sparkle" and "glitter"), but I only use lighter shades, only use it on my upper lid and blend it well. I think it brightens up my old eyes!

@vermint

Good for you Smiley Happy  It's never "all or nothing".  Nearly everything can be done tastefully and who cares if people's perspective of tastefully differ.  I'll never forget the time I followed an exact look a YTer did with the Barbie eyeshadow palette.  It looked great on her.  I applied it exactly like she did.  I loved it (I love color).  Hubby said no and he rarely says that.  Mom said no.  Ok, she has no problem speaking her mind.  Now to get dad's opinion.  I'm his favorite person in the entire world.  He's going to say it looks great no matter what he really thinks.  "Hey dad, do you like my eyeshadow look today?".  He said no before I could even finish the question (sigh).  I haven't worn it again.

I have been wearing more and more neutrals and I'll just have to wait and see what I think about shimmer e/s on crepey eyelids.  I love a good Colourpop Super Shock Shadow too.  It's a one and done look.  The sparkle is micro-fine.  This is the main color in today's look.  It's Bobbie Brown's Velvet Plum

Re: Why Can't They Make False Lashes Like This?

Wow, not sure I can wear these.  I WANT too but I'm not sure I could wear them with confidence.  If this is the shorter version (You Dew You), I can't even imagine what the others look like Smiley Surprised

I've gotten lucky sometimes but I discovered early on with my eyelash purchases, I can't judge the length by looking at them online and this was no exception.
