OXOXOX.... thinking of you and your loss.
I am not olive-toned, however, do have the redness and sensitivity issues. My HG foundation has been discontinued. I still have a little on hand, so I keep comparing the lower-end brands that I am just "trying."
Almay and Maybelline are ok... no sensitivity issues (that is a biggie) but do these give my skin a beautiful glow? No... and that is what we are looking for, right?
I intend to keep trying foundations and posting results, as well as checking out the reviews on make-up alley. HTH... for blusher I have found I just cannot beat Rimmel's "Autumn Catwalk." Greatest color-pay off ever, it does not oxidize on me and it gives just the right glow. So does Stila "kitten" glow powder... it's almost a bronzer for my very pale skin... so it glows a little beige pink.

Finding a new and great foundation may give you a much needed lift. You are going through a lot; my condolences on your loss. Been through it and know how difficult it is. Maybe check out the make-up counter at Macy's or a similar store. They will help you and perhaps give you samples or at least try different foundations on you. They do accept returns too. Might be nice to get out and do this. (Personally I like the foundations I have from Dior, Shiseido and Trish McEvoy. LG Bal. and Brighten did not work for me and after using BE years ago, their new liquid did not work for me.)

I'm very, very sorry to hear about your Mom.
Have lots of favorite foundations but I'm not acne prone so would be hard for me to make a recommendation.
Maybe use a matte bronzer to liven up your skin.

Stay strong - things will get better, one day at a time.
I am 56 with good skin. Like you, I haven't been thrilled with most of the foundations I've tried lately - in many ways, I thought my skin looked better without them.
However, I just started using Smashbox's Halo Liquid foundation and really like it. It is lightweight and build-able, and gives good coverage without masking your skin. My skin just looks healthy. Smashbox foundations (Halo included) skew yellow-based and darker than most other lines, and I do believe they have a shade that is a good match for olive-toned skin.
I also have, and have used, EL foundations, Makeup Forever, Benefit Oxygen, Stila, and others but strongly prefer the Halo. I also really like SKINN's plasma foundation. It is full coverage and leaves your skin looking flawless.
Good luck.

On 11/7/2014 Madisson said:Agree, the Mat Velvet Plus has been my go to lately, great coverage and staying power. Another one I am looking right now is the Dior Star, nice look and lasts all day. I also find that my foundations look better if I use the Hourglass Ambien powder after applying-good luckI am still oxox, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your mom. It sounds like you have a lot going on in your life. Please take care of yourself.
As for foundations, you have to try Make Up For Ever in Mat Velvet!!! I have finally found my Holy Grail foundation! It would help your breakout prone skin. It is the foundation I use. I have super-oily skin and do not break out at all from this. Plus, it stays matte all day long. It is full coverage and absolutely awesome. There is a finishing powder that I use with it. I was using a BB foundation and recently switched to this. I cannot believe the compliments I have been receiving because of it. I hope QVC starts carrying it. XOXOXO
So sorry for your loss...
I'm 57yo with sensitive, combo skin...no issues with wrinkles or pores.
My two favorite liquid foundations are:
Ellis Faas Skin foundation, and the new Dior Star foundation. Both leave a natural slightly dewey finish that looks great in natural light and lasts all day on my skin. I finish with a light dusting of powder in my T-zone only. I use blotting papers periodically throughout the day.
I love Laura Mercier products, but can't get a color match in her foundations. I have decided that I do NOT like the new Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation formula. Just doesn't spread well on my skin and doesn't look natural.
