I'm sure you have reached out to family and friends for support these past 3 weeks. They can ease your pain with physical hugs and comforting words, but sometimes you need to help yourself feel better in any way you can. I know when my dad died, there was a day I looked in the mirror shortly after and could see I looked like all the worries and cares of the world were staring back at me. Hard to lift up even an inch when you feel that way.
Also, the first weeks I tended to stay home. The first time I went out after my dad died, helped me feel I could survive the pain. I got fresh air, was able to share with people what I was feeling and it just helped.
In no way do I compare the loss of my dog recently with your mom's passing. They aren't the same. But my reaction to it is similar to yours. I told hubby one day to bring home a pack of cupcakes. I ate them all. All 6. Didn't care about calories or trans fats or nothing. I just needed them in that moment. What I'm trying to say is, be kind to yourself, do what YOU need to do to get through the day, the hour, the minute. If you need to get out to have a few moments of "normal", do it. If you want to stay home and pull the curtains, that's ok too. What I really to want to say, we care, don't worry about the negative remarks or people, keep your hopes up.
What I really want to do with all this is lift you up. Shrug off the negative folks, take it a day at a time, do what feels right to you, reach out to people who will take you wherever you are emotionally, and never give up hope.
Ahh cupcakes, I bought a package of 4 in Trader Joe's and at two of them for breakfast the other day. Part of my problem is I work at home and the days are really difficult, I can not wait to until my husband gets home, well some nights at least

I am trying to get back to a somewhat normal pace of life, which is not easy, we are still making dinner for my Dad 3-4 nights a week, switching off with my younger brother, add to that there is a "gas" shut down with no return date, in the apt where he lives. So this compounds a very difficult situation even more

Laura Mercier has some beautiful foundations. Her new one Fluide is like a second skin, oil-free, long lasting and med. coverage. Check out the reviews on her website.

I am so sorry about your loss. At times like these we look for things to make us feel better. I get it.
Recently, I have gotten samples of the following foundations: Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, EL Invisible Fluide, EL Perfectionist, MAC Pro Longwear, YSL new one with the dropper, Dior Star, Givenchy Teint Couture.
By far the best for my aging skin were the Estee Lauder Invisible Fluide, and the Givency Teint Couture. I still LOVE my Revlon Colorstay for normal to dry skin and my Loreal Tru Match.
If I win the lottery or find a place to give me a sample, I would LOVE to try the Sisley Teint. SOOO expensive, just would never spend that on myself.
Check out some Youtubers on these---it's fun and will get your mind off things.
Regards!
Oh, and forgot to mention tht Sephora has a Foundation matching system now that you might want to try out.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom...lost mine almost 6 years ago, and I miss her.
Adding an early Happy Birthday to you! I will also be 60 in February and can't quite wrap my head around it...don't mind the age, just wondering where the time went!
Good luck in your search---finding a new foundation can be quite a journey!
Happy early B day to you, I am Feb 19 what date are you
Thanks! I'm the 24th...so we are only 5 days apart!Be really good to yourself right now...a little change can perk you up enormously sometimes. Right after my mom died, I changed my hair style/color and got new glasses!
I am the 24th, too!

I'm sorry for your loss. I know that for me, stress can affect my skin and what usually works doesn't work so well anymore.
I would suggest if you go to a department store, and are trying out different foundations, that you look at Lancôme Renergie Lift. A lot of ladies over age 50 really like it, including me.
Cover Girl Outlast 3 in 1 and Revlon Colorstay Whipped are pretty good drugstore options that might be worth a try. Just make sure you go to a store that accepts returns on opened cosmetics. Drugstore cosmetics have improved a LOT in quality in the last 5-10 years.
Best of luck to you in your search for a new foundation. ![]()

I ended up at the Clinique counter, and bought Even Better Cream to Powder in Sand, so far it feels nice and looks good. I tried Estee Lauder and they could not find a good enough color match.
Thank you all for the suggestions and condolences.

When I use it......not everyday as I have good skin some redness and just turned 70... my dr says I have skin of a 40 yr old and I was a sun worshiper still am so go figure.
I use Smashbox Halo love it have tried others and this is for me.......I also use Laura Geller's baked I'm pretty sure Grapefruit and it gives such a refreshing tint of glow... get compliments everytime on not makeup.......Skin my skin is combo...tan and burn easily.
For me I don't like liquid makeup anymore I feel cleaner with the powders and its so easy.

I have used everything, I am 67 and am lucky to have almost flawless skin (Irish heritage), but was always on the search for the perfect foundation, light, full coverage and lasting. I found it.....Too Faced cocao powder infused foundation with kaboke brush (HSN). I absolutely love this and it is flawless, does not build up and lasts all day....try it. They also sell it at SEPHORA and MACYS.

I'm 56, super sensitive dry skin and rosacea. I have been using this for over 2 years. I've tried others, but this is my absolutely favorite and it's worth every penny. I wear it pretty much every day except weekends and the bottle has been lasting approx. 8 months. I'm on my 3rd. That tells you how much I love it.
