What works for scars? Anyone have experience?

I have been reading the thread about the derma roller with interest. In doing a little more research, I discovered that it can be good for scar tissue. My DD has scars on the inside and outside of he ankle due to surgery to put in a lot of metal to hold the bones together after breaking them in 3 places. One of the things she wants for Christmas is Kelocote, a gel scar treatment.

I am just wondering if anyone has had experience with similar surgery scars that was effective and easy. What is the best treatment?
