I've had rosacea for several years now, and it seems to be getting worse. My dermatologist seemed to have it under control for a while, but as I get older, the stuff he recommends and/or prescribes seems to no longer work. I have constant flushing and red inflammation on my cheeks and chin. I'm wondering if the Q has any products that people would recommend to try, or anything over the counter is an option too but I've probably already tried it.

Currently, I use Skin Medica sensitive skin cleanser, Pevonia RS2 care cream Ligne Rose, and metrogel 1%. I also use Bare Minerals original foundation, nothing else

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I suffer from mild rosacea, but can generally control it without the use of Rx meds (just my own preference), so I can't advise you on that end of it.

The best advice that was ever given to me, and that actually makes a real difference in my skin - stay out of the sun, use SPF daily. By making these 2 changes, my skin changed dramatically. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums, goodgirl139. You can get some excellent tips here on beauty products from what I think is a wonderful group of people.

I would be very cautious, though, about any advice when it comes to medical issues, especially with a disorder like rosacea that seems to affect individuals so differently. What might help one person could possibly aggravate another.

<h1>Our Mission</h1>

The National Rosacea Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of people with rosacea by raising awareness, providing public health information and supporting medical research on this widespread but little-known disorder. The information the Society provides should not be considered medical advice, nor is it intended to replace

consultation with a qualified physician. The Society does not evaluate, endorse or recommend any particular medications, products, equipment or treatments. Rosacea may vary substantially from one patient to another, and treatment must be tailored by a physician for each individual case.

<h1 id="page-title" class="title">About Us</h1>

The National Rosacea Society (NRS) is the world's largest organization dedicated to improving the lives of the estimated 16 million Americans who suffer from this widespread but poorly understood disorder. Through education and advocacy, our mission is threefold:

  • To raise awareness of rosacea.
  • To provide public health information on the disorder.
  • To encourage and support medical research that may lead to improvements in its management, prevention and potential cure.

Since 1992, the NRS has made a difference in the way rosacea patients are treated and the way this widespread disorder is perceived and understood. To learn more about the NRS, read about our history and program services, as well as about our organization and financial information. The NRS research grants program is supported by thousands of individual donations, and with each donation this program grows stronger and more significant.

Do you have type 1, no pustula'a and papula's? I would think that they would be treated differently. I have type 2 and the only redness I get is around the bumps (pimples). I use Alpha Hydrox lotion and I no longer break out. I wash with CeraVe hydrating cleanser.

I have mild rosacea and don't use prescription meds. I've been using several of Paula's Choice products, and they haven't irritated my skin at all. She has two lines for rosacea. Her Skin Recovery system is for normal to dry skin. She has a line called Hydralight for normal to oily skin. Maybe this would work for you. You can order them from her website and a couple of other places. There's a lot of info about them on her website also. Good luck finding something that will work well for you.

I tried using Bare Minerals one time, and it really irritated my skin.

My dermo prescribed finacea for me. The only thing that has worked is staying out of the sun and sunblock...

Clean, smooth, soft unscented pillow cases. Any scents from detergent, etc. will irritate the skin. Unscented Purex, and several other unscented LIQUID laundry detergents work best. Powders leave a slight residue which may irritate.

Remember any scented hair products will leave a chemical/scent on your pillowcases. I use fresh, clean pillow cases every night.

Metro gel did nothing for me until my new derm put me on Retin A in conjunction with the Metro gel.

I use Metro gal in the daytime and Retin A at night. The Retin A allows the Metro gel to get down deep in there and work.

I have almost no redness (to the point where I have had to change foundation a lot to get the right color now) and no flare ups.

It took about a year to get to this point now I'm in maintenance.

I do take Oracea to control it and that has worked for me. But I swear by Paula's Choice cleansers and sunscreens and that has made a huge difference. I have combination skin, I alternate between Hydralight and Skin Balancing, and I am just trying her Resist SPF 30 Super Light Wrinkle Defense. Before that, I used another one of her sunscreens. I wear sunscreen every day, rain or shine. I've been using these for a LONG time. THey have the BEST customer service. I have called and talked to one of her advisors many times, and I've never been disappointed. I see a dermatologist regularly, and she encourages me not to use many products on my face. I don't use any toner, and I use 2% BHA once in a while (but recently I haven't been using that much). Smile
