Re: What perfume are you wearing today?

Today, I am trying a new one, Tresor:

Tresor is a treasure among perfume creations (‘tresor’ in French means ‘treasure’). It is one of the best-selling and most popular perfumes in the world. This exceptionally warm floral-oriental has a very fine and elegant composition made of rose, heliotrope, orris, apricot and iris. It was created in 1990. The nose behind this fragrance is Sophia Grojsman.

@1Professor, In another thread today I shared the perfumes in my rotation (plus a few essential oils) which are:

* First, by Van Cleef & Arpel

* Must, by Cartier (both the parfum and the EDP, they are difference and create a third scent when layered together)

* Fendi (original)

* Chloe (original)

* Chloe Narcisse

* Obsession, by Calvin Klein (date nights)

* Shalimar, by Guerlain (date night) - should come w/ caution not to use too much Smiley Wink

* A.O.C Lavander de Haute Provence essential oil

* Jasmine essential oil

* Ylang-Ylang essential oil

Tresor just barely missed the cut (I think Isabella Rossalini was the spokesmodel for Tresor when it first was launched in a Tuscan landscape). I must have tried it half a dozen times over a few years before I finally desided to pass on it.

That said, to this day, I still have positive memories of Tresor. I think you'll really enjoy it... and the bottle is unique and beautiful. Smiley Happy

Re: What perfume are you wearing today?

I normally prefer a bold scent (e.g., YSL Black Opium, D&G The One or Lancome La Vie A Belle), but I ventured out into the more sublte fragance of Philosophy's Fresh Cream, and it did not dissappoint! I pared it with the body wash and body cream for more staying power - and WOW! Talk about compliments. I am a big fan of anything vanilla (or honey or honey suckle) and the Fresh Cream meets all of my vanilla cravings and needs. So good!

@bebe777: What a glorious collection! I shall try several. My all time favorite has been JOY by Jean Patou, but I've been experimentig to find another to add.

I adore Jasmine, Gardenia, Rose. Sandalwood.

@bebe777: What a glorious collection! I shall try several. My all time favorite has been JOY by Jean Patou, but I've been experimentig to find another to add.

I adore Jasmine, Gardenia, Rose. Sandalwood.

@1Professor, lol, I love my collection which I finished creating about 25 years ago. Smiley Happy

I adore A.O.C. Lavander de Haute Provence (which is regulared much like french Champagne), Jasmine, Gardenia, Ylany-Ylang, expensive Vanilla and Sandlewood. -- lol, I can't stand rose fragrances with the singular exception of the original Fendi.

For about five years I regularly frequented the perfume counters of the major department stores in my area. lol, I did it very systematically trying a few fragrances each time and taking notes. Smiley Happy

FIrst and Must were my two first finds. They were each fairly unusual and not easily available which gave them a certain cache for me. Smiley Happy -- Both of them have sophistocated vanilla notes at their base, unlike the cheap vanilla notes in so many fragrances that just club you over. First is hard to describe but it reminds me of a floral with champagne bubbles. -- Must is a sneaky little fragrance with some sublte oriental notes that slowly but surely pulls you in.

I had no interest in trying Chloe and only tried it when a friend was having a makeover done at their counter. -- Again it was a funky mild peach fragrance which was like nothing else I had tried. I wear it when I'm in a silly mood. -- Chloe Narcisse is a beautiful subtle scent that just blew me away. You like gardenias (as do I) so I think you might like it.

Fendi was an afterthought that came to me later on after I had finished choosing my fragrances. -- My mom was doing some PR work for the initial Fendi launch and she brought home big bottles of it for us. lol, since I was the only one really taken with it, I managed to wangle the other bottles. Smiley Wink

Fendi was a huge surprise because it's a rose fragrance... and I hate, just hate every rose fragrance I have ever tried. -- What's difference about Fendi is that the five Fendi sisters spent 10 years to create their signature fragrance... after all this was the calling card for the Fendi Couture House. They all had to agree on the fragrance before it went to market. -- It's an amazing complex fragrance which unfolds as you wear it, much like a rose unfolds as it opens and shares it's secrets. -- It has a mild oriental note, but it's very very subtle.

SInce you like rose and sandalwood, I think that you would kind Fendi. -- I also just remembered that Fendi came out right around the same time as Tresor. If Fendi hadn't been around, I might well have purchased Tresor. If you like Tresor, then definately check out the original Fendi (I think they have other fragrances now).

Obsession and Shalimar are oriental, date night fragrances. lol, I just don't think that they should be worn during the day because they are heavy handed fragrances... and not in crowded rooms... it's just not fair to other folks. Smiley Wink

My grandmother wore Shalimar and that dtaed my fondness for it, but it's not an old lady perfume. It is very forceful so I actually like to smell it at home more than I actually wear it... but I adore it. Smiley Happy Obsession is Shalimar light, but it still packs a major punch. I purchased Obsession the fall that it was launched. I spent three days looking through my September Vogue 1,000 page before I finally found the Obsession advertising page that I had been smelling for three days... lol, it was pure, unadulterated obsession right from the start... and remains so til this day. Smiley Wink

I think that you'll probably like Obsession, though Shalimar can be an acquired taste. Smiley Happy

I'm glad that you mentioned Joy because that's also one of my fragrances. I have the one ounce perfume in the classic, beautiful bottle. I really like Joy a lot though part of the mystique has to do with the bottle. Much like Shalimar, I'm more likely to wear it at home and I really enjoy sniffing it and admiring the bottle.
