I don't get too excited about Retinol. It's already a weak relative to Tretinoin/Retin A and weakens even more as it goes through the required metabolic conversion steps to turn it into retinoic acid so it can be received by the skin. Tretinoin /Retin A needs no conversion as it's already retinoic acid right out of the tube..

At least they are in single use capsules.
@JeanLouiseFinch I know you don't think much of retinol. But it can be perfect for some. There are many factors that go into the rate of its converting into retinoic acid. But that's a different story.
Here are the ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Cocoate, Dimethiconol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Retinol, Dimethylmethoxy, Chromanol, Ceramide NP, Phenoxyethanol.
When I ran out of the retinol that I usually order, this was my choice of substitute (because of the single dose). The percentage of retinol is probably very low. But because it is housed as is, and not in cream form, you are also probably receiving more of the retinol benefit.

My derm told me one time that using otc retinoid products is the long road to your destination and that it's more expensive that way than just using Rx Retin-A.

I know, @SilleeMee , but if you have nothing much to fix.....

I think for many users Retin-A does 'fix' issues but it's also about slowing the aging process, too. RA inhibits naturally occurring collagenase enzyme which increases as you get older, unfortunately, so you end up with more collagen, less lines/wrinkles/sagging by using RA. RA is the only product on the market which can go deep enough to reach the deepest retinoid (gamma) receptors...we have three different types of receptors (alpha, beta, gamma). The other retinoids only reach the other two and even some of those retinoids don't reach both of the other receptors...depends on the type of retinoid.

I'm really not arguing any point....just trying to pose another view. Because I've considered several times (not lightly) to go w/ Retin A.
You may be interested in this Pub Med study:
Although the magnitude tends to be smaller, retinol induces similar changes in skin histology, and gene and protein expression as compared to retinoic acid application. These results were confirmed by the significant facial anti-aging effect observed in the retinol efficacy clinical study.
